Lectations were set early as Vegas returned tne opening kickoff for a touchdown. On the play, the Jaguars landed a smashing smash-ing crack-back block that laid out one of the Utah players. Las Vegas converted the extra point and led 8- "It was time for us to either get blown out or dig in and play some football," Jenkins said. The Utah kids dug deep, and their first offensive offen-sive series ended in a 62-yard scoring scor-ing strike from Dallas Lloyd to Sefa Tanoai. The extra point was converted on a great pass and catch in the back of the end zone by Mitch Dahl to tie the game. Las Vegas scored in the second quarter to go up 16-8. Utah then put together a great drive, culminating culmi-nating in an 18-yard touchdown pass from Lloyd to Tanoai across the middle. In the second half, the momentum went back and forth with some real hard-hitting football as both sides were unwilling to let the other team have the lead. Las Vegas was strong defensively and shut down the run all day, according to Jenkins. Utah's receivers, Keaton Secre-tan, Secre-tan, Mitch Dahl and Michael Morgan, Mor-gan, all had a big day. The Utah offensive line, anchored by Taylor Jenkins, Cameron Hunt and David McAllister, provided Lloyd with enough time to read the Jaguar defense, and Dahl made several catches by out-jumping the defenders. defend-ers. With the score still tied in the fourth quarter, Joey Owens rumbled rum-bled around the left end and scored from the 8-yard line, giving Utah the lead. The extra point was converted con-verted to make the score 24-16. The Utah defense was stifling, Coach Jenkins said. Led by defensive defen-sive ends Jordan Hymas and Owens, plus linebackers Jordan Esteban, Jeff Harris and Parker Almeida, the defense made play after play. The Jaguars were forced to throw the ball more than normal the entire second half. They had never played a physical defense that stopped their power running attack, and weren't used to coming from behind with the pass. With less than two minutes to play, an interception by Steven Westover, the second of two on the day, sealed the victory for Utah. In addition to Jenkins, the team was coached by Casey Lloyd, Kevin Doman and Clark Esteban. mal Jordan River bird count is set for Saturday; participants of all abilities welcome 20th Annual Jordan Brer unristmas mra m begins on Saturday li the count area center- on the Utah County and Lake County boundary and 1-15.
