Last Wednesday evening, Pleasant Grove police officers and dispatchers were honored. These 45 men and women work long and often stressful hours ensuring public safety and being available during crises and emergencies. "In light of September 11th," said Amy as she paid tribute to Pleasant Grove's police force, "we became more -aware of the police and firemen who work so hard to save our lives. I wanted to honor these men and women in our town." The evening of honor included delicious pies and pastries from Kneader's restaurant. restau-rant. As the officers, dispatchers, and their spouses enjoyed their refreshments, several sever-al of the officers shared humorous "on-the- job" speeding-ticket stories and paid tribute to several of their fellow officers. Officer Jeff Wilson praised the dispatchers dispatch-ers and said of Communications Administrator Sherri Atwood, "I'd like my daughter to be like her." Atwood returned compliments to the officers, "They're under stress and pressure, pres-sure, but they're courteous in the department depart-ment as well as on the radio." She continued to express how well the officers and dispatchers work together in Pleasant Grove. The Pleasant Grove police department currently consists of 29 officers and 16 dispatchers. dis-patchers. Mayor Jim Danklef, along with Worthington, paid tribute to the officers and dispatchers and presented them with gift certificates to Kneader's and a plaque which reads, "Thanks for all your hard work, courage, and sacrifice that makes our community so great."
