A Christy Asay layup and a Natalie Rushton trey sent Lehi marching within 18-7 in the period's final two minules. In the early second quarter, quar-ter, Candice Fischer hit a trey and Rushton a foul shot to move the Pioneers within 18-11. Main, American Maimen region m By Dean Von Memmott Sports Correspondent In a final Region 7 dual meet Thursday, the Mountain View Bruins edged the Pleasant Grove wrestling team 31-30. The thrilling contest took lots of suprising turns through the night. Fans for both schools found themselves them-selves with only hope that their guys would win. The first series of twists occurred in the heavyeight match between Viking Nick Christensen and Bruin Mitch Green. The Bruin scored first with a takedown. Christensen Christen-sen escaped, then pulled ahead 3-2 on a takedown. Not looking back, he pinned Green before the first period peri-od of their match ended. In the 103 weight class match, Bruin Ryan Borg took Viking Kawai Goodman down, then went on to defeat him 16-3, putting put-ting Mountain View within 6-4. During the 112 weight class match, Viking Shawn Barrington escaped the clutches of Todd Robins to force their contest into over- hit two layups and a trey to put Lehi ahead 30-27. Leetham trimmed it to 30-29 30-29 just before the quarter break. In the early fourth quarter, quar-ter, Leetham answered an Asay foul shot with a field goal that tied the game at 31. Hunt broke the deadlock with a bucket that sparked a key 7-0 scoring run. After Leetham hit an inside shot, Pleasant Grove went cold briefly. Fischer and Asay created a 42-33 lead for Lehi. Dixon hit a trey in hopes of getting a rally going. The Vikings moved within 43-38, but couldn't get any closer. Leetham led the Vikings with 16 points, and Dixon added another 14. Fischer, Hunt, and Durrant each posted 10 points to become Lehi's scoring leaders. At Orem Thursday, Pleasant Grove took a 4-0 lead. Orem retaliated with a 10-0 scoring run fueled by steals. The Vikings never recovered from it. Johnson and Michelle Bishop led the Vikings with six points each. Despite the rough week, the Vikings are still tied with Timpanogos for second place in the region with a 3-2 3-2 record, trailing undefeated undefeat-ed Mountain View. The Timberwolves visit tomorrow, and then the Vikings take on the Bruins Tuesday on the road. Fork 756-5027 edged by Bruins; time. The Bruin escaped, then scored a takedown of his own. Before Jacobs could escape, Park pinned him. Their 25-24 advantage quickly vaporized when Viking John Kulcher pinned Tanner Chatfield in the first period of the 189 weight class match.
