Jach year the Utah National ks council is authorized by the ional Council of the Boy Scouts America, acting through the ional Court of Honor to award Silver Beaver Award to out-lding out-lding men and women within council. Tie honor is bestowed upon vol-eer vol-eer Scouters for their distin-shed distin-shed service to youth in uting. number of awards is based n the number of units in the J council. This year the Council rented 85 awards to people from wer the State of Utah. iach new Silver Beaver candi-e candi-e has served well in many uting positions for many years. :h has been trained and trained again and then has shared the training with others. They are actively involved in helping their communities be healthy and uplifting uplift-ing places for the people who live there. Kirk Beecher uses three weeks of vacation each year to be with the Scouts at troop camp, Timberline and Wood Badge. He is committed to monthly troop camp outs during the summer or winter and carries many extra hats, coats and gloves in his truck for cold Scouts. Beecher's wife testifies that Scouting makes Kirk a whole person per-son and a better husband. They've spent many anniversaries anniver-saries and birthdays at Basic Training or Wood Badge and will never forget their family vacation to Philmont. Terry B. Erickson went the extra mile in her work with the Cub Scouts, making hundreds of neckerchief necker-chief slides for the Scoutorama and for pack functions. She took the boys to Cub day x J " 4 Yorgasons to speak at American Fork library Monday Kurt Beecher Terry Erickson Corey McBride Dale Warburton camp each year she was a den leader, and her pack won first place three years in a row for their booth at Scoutorama. Erickson has established a uniform uni-form bank for boys and encourages the Scouts to wear their uniforms. Each boy Terry works with is encouraged to excel at whatever activity he is involved in. Corey L. McBride of Lindon is a merit badge counselor for Canoeing, and Pioneering and he knows Beekeeping. He helped build Scouting in a troop that was barely functioning. The Scouts won awards at Scoutorama and Klondike, loving every minute of it. With McBride's help, young boys started to look forward to becoming Boy Scouts. Parents began to sup:the Noted author and speaker speak-er Brenton G. Yorgason and his wife Margaret , will speak on Monday, Oct. 8 at African Fork Public port Scouting. McBride also" served at eight training sessions during the time he was Scoutmaster. Dale Warburton is currently District Chairman of the Timpanogos District. Three months after having open heart surgery Dale attended Key 3 training at Philmont in 1999. He's been on Wood Badge staff and has given over 30 years of service serv-ice to Scouting. He's taken Scouts to the wilderness of Yellowstone via canoes, to the High Uintahs, on river trips and has prepared many special scout ceremonies. Library. The couple is author and ' co-author of 60 books, and' ' they are expected to give ar motivational and inspira- tional presentation. Brenton Yorgason has a PhD. in Family Studies and Marriage and Family,.
