"This just caps it (the garden) off, and we are grateful to the volunteers" for their donation. "There is nothing that soothes the soul more than someone reaching from the heart,"said Durfey. "This goes along with the mission statement state-ment of the Volunteers,"she said. "All of you know as well as I that there is more to medicine than just needles and knives," said Chaplain Alden Brown. '"The other part is the spirit. This is a beautiful place for families either with a short term crisis or grieving for a loved one to feel the spirit of heaven and be lifted up." Brown gave the dedicatory prayer. He also noted the non-denominational non-denominational chapel recently dedicated at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo and said he hopes there will a similar area at American Fork Hospital The bronze sculpture features fea-tures a plaque quoting John Andrew Holmes: "There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up." It was donated by the hospital volunteer auxiliary, auxil-iary, "celebrating the caring f the eniDlovees, physi cians and volunteers at American Fork Hospital, (a) top 100 benchmark hospital, 1994, 1997, 1998, 1999." The garden was started about a year and a half ago, and the area was transformed under the direction of Wayne Shepherd, Alexander said.. It can be viewed from the area outside same-day-surgery and as visitors walk the corridor corri-dor along the second floor as well as the cafeteria. The hope is that the garden will be a place where patients and visitors, as well as the employees, physicians and volunteers vol-unteers will be able to re-energize their spirits or calm a troubled trou-bled heart, officials said. iiiii III Erma Conder, president of the Volunteer AuxiiiarTT American Fork Hospital, and Carol Ann Durfev Dir Volunteers, relax in front of the waterfall of the new uroi Garden at the hospital, following dedication cerern Notice of bonds to be issued NOTICE IS HEREBY ;.talvbN pursuant to the provisions pro-visions of the Utah ;.
