Carlson Carl Carlson celebrates his 90th Birthday The family of Carl LaVar Carlson, will honor him at a dinner and social gathering May 31, 2003 at the Vista Club Salt Lake City in celebration cele-bration of his 90th Birthday. Carl was born May 31, 1913 in Salt Lake City to Carl B. Carlson and Geneva Fullmer Carlson. He is the oldest in a family of 9. He was reared and education in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He married Fern Powell of Lehi on September 16, 1931. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple September 1956. They have three children, chil-dren, LaRane Cordova, Brigham City, UT, Gilbert Carlson (LeAnna) Salt Lake City," Marilyn Mitchell (Bruce) Sandy, UT. 14 grandchildren and their spouses, 43 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great grandchildren. grand-children. After 63 years of married bliss, Fern passed away November 1994. He married mar-ried LoLene (Lola) Taylor in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple June 29, 1999. Bureau of Reclamation office open house The Bureau of Reclamation's Provo Area Office is in final preparation for an open house on Friday, June 6, between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The purpose of the Open House is to help commemorate the agency's centennial. The centennial theme, "A Century of Water for the West," has been the centerpiece of Reclamation celebration activities across the country since the start of the centennial year on June 17, 2002. The general public is invited. The agency, established in 1902, with the help of then President Theodore Roosevelt, originated within the U.S. Geological Survey. In 1907, the agency obtained "Bureau" status, and in 1923, officially became the Bureau of Reclamation. Today, Reclamation is the largest water resources management agency in the West, administering adminis-tering 348 reservoirs and delivering more than 10 tril- it! VIP Arts announces the opening of The Fantasticks at the Little Brown Theater. The Fantasticks the worlds longest running musical first opened on May 3, 1960 in New York City and closed in January 13, 2002 with 17162 performances. The lyrics and book by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt have provided the world with a wonderful piece of American musical theater with headliner songs like "Try to remember" remem-ber" among others. The staging in the intimate inti-mate setting of the Little Brown Theater will place the audience close to the action of this musical metaphor depicting young love, as the beautiful Louisa played by Jenny Lynn tries to pull away from her father Mr. Bellomy (Dennis Hess) into the world of romance and first love with her boy friend Matt played by Zack Neipp. Matt's father, Mr. Hucklebee (Rulon Galloway) is very much in opposition to these two getting get-ting together, or so it appears. An this the conflict of young love and strong willed lovers drives the father to join forces as best friends only to deceive their offspring by pretending to be enemies. Searching for a way to end the feud, Hucklebee hires El Gallo (David Bunnell) to kidnap the girl and thus the boy to save her. An so the charade continues con-tinues to the delight of the audience. Others in the cast are: Henry the Indian played by Tom Lamoreas, Mortimer (Emily Spackman), The Mutes (Ricardo Hernandez and Britney Penrose). This production is directed by veteran director Betty Lee, with music direction by Clare Johson, and choreography choreog-raphy by Ashleigh Johnson. Live music will accompany the acting ensemble.
