These students, visiting from the Saitama Technical College near Tokyo, completed com-pleted a nine-day automotive course where they received hands-on experience for collision colli-sion repair, custom metal fabrication, fab-rication, welding and heavy diesel. "This is a cultural experience experi-ence for them," said Don Wilson, Wil-son, department chair. "Plus they get an opportunity to do things they never would in Japan, like working with hydraulics hy-draulics and big diesel trucks." The nine days the exchange students spent at UVSC is only part of their trip. They spent several more days touring tour-ing Utah, seeing sights in Salt Lake City and southern Utah. This program, in its seventh year, also benefits UVSC. The tuition paid by the Japanese students goes directly toward automotive scholarships for UVSC students.
