"We are reaching a crisis issue," is-sue," said developer Dan Richards, Rich-ards, whose Mitchell Meadows subdivision on the city's northwest north-west side is the area of concern. "People who will be moving into this subdivision shortly won't have water for their homes." Mayor Heber Thompson directed di-rected the city's Public Works Department to work expeditiously expedi-tiously to find a solution to the problem. Director of Public Works Howard Denney said Monday the city was hiring a consultant to determine options. On the southeast corner of 1120 North and 900 West, the subdivision has water, just not enough, according to some. Epperson spends time with Charlie, Shadow and Jade. Those are his three horses he keeps at the American Fork Riding Club grounds in north American Fork. Charlie, 8, and Shadow, 15, are quarter horses. Jade, 5, is a thoroughbred. At 6 feet 2 inches and 250 pounds, Epperson is too tall to ride them in the races, but he trains them. "If they can run with me on their back, I can throw a jockey on their back and they should be able to fly," he said. He said that is acceptable for older horses, but not advisable for younger ones. Epperson has been involved with horses during all the seasons for most of his life. Community BriefinQ CANDIDATES FILE FOR OFFICE - Six individuals have filed to run for three four-year and one two-year seats on the City Council in November. Based on the number of candidates there will be no primary election. elec-tion. Incumbents Sherry Kramer, Shirl Don LeBaron and Ricky K. Storrs are seeking the four-year terms, along with former council member George E. Brown, Jr. and Jason Porter. Incumbent Dale O. Gunther was the lone applicant for the two-year term. LIBRARY HOSTS HARRY POTTER MOVIE MARATHON MAR-ATHON The American Fork Public Library is having hav-ing a Harry Potter Movie Marathon The movies start at 6:30 p.m. and are free but those who attend must reserve a seat there is a limit of 60 people. Movies are made possible by a grant from Target stores. July 23 will feature "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban." BANK OF AMERICAN FORK LAUNCHES NEW - BALLOON The Bank of American Fork launched a new hot air balloon Friday to coordinate with its new image. The 90-foot high "Americana" balloon is red, white and blue to reflect the "Americana" theme and the bank's new slogan "Big city banking) small town service." "Balloons are a tradition of the bank," president and CEO Rick Beard said. "There is nothing more American than to be in a hot air balloon In July, soaring soar-ing over American Fork. We are delighted to be part of the community. The balloon helps capture small-town America." CONCERT IN THE PARK - Ben's Band and the American Fork Children's Choir will perform Monday at 7 p.m. at Concert in the Park at the American Fork Amphitheater, 851 E. 700 North, American Fork. The public is invited to attend the free concert and may bring chairs or blankets. Ben's Band is composed of BYU students Kat Rob-bins, Rob-bins, Ben Wilford and Kenneth Dunn. The American Fork Children's Choir ranges in age from 6 to 15. They have performed songs composed for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games and Paralympic Games. The group put on a grandparents only concert in the spring in which the singers perform songs from their grandparents' younger days. CITY OFFICES TO CLOSE - American Fork City offices of-fices will be closed Tuesday for Pioneer Day. Garbage and recycling pickups will be delayed one day that week. CHURCH PLANS YARD SALE - The Community Presbyterian Church will have a yard sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be at 75 N. 100 East, American Ameri-can Fork., The church-wide sale includes furniture, bikes, appliances ap-pliances and more, but no clothing. There will also be hot dogs, lemonade and baked goods for sale. Funds will be used to support youth activities.
