Show Christmas Shopping Guide, New Utah - December 4, 2003 - Page 2 Celebrate the Season Ways to spend time with family during December By Brett Merritt Utah Valley Correspondent Planning events to keep family, friends and visitors vis-itors happy during the holidays can be as difficult as navigating the Point of the Mountain with bald tires during a snowstorm. With all the events to choose from, one almost has to purchase a separate sepa-rate day planner to get through Dec. 31. With that in mind, we've ddne some legwork for you. Here's a list of things you and friends can do together-or, together-or, for that matter, alone to celebrate the winter holiday season. Go skiing. You really shouldn't go through the holidays without strapping on a pair of skis or a snowboard. If you've never gone, may we suggest that this be the year you go for it. Head to Pleasant Grove for an "Old World Christmas." From Dec. 2 to 6 and Dec. 13 and 20, there will be representations of Santa Claus from Italy, Spain, England, Germany and the United States. It's a sure way to learn the Italian equivalent equiva-lent of "ho-ho-ho." As a part of Provo's WinterFest, painted and decorated candy windows will appear in the store windows of several Center Street businesses oh Dec. 1. Check them out during the month. www.provo.org. Visit any number of valley fast food restaurants restau-rants that are serving egg nog milkshakes. They are probably 10,000 calories a piece, but that extra layer of pudge will keep you warm for the winter. Music always helps people get into the spirit of the holidays. Attend the Utah Valley Symphony's Sympho-ny's "Family Christmas Concert" tonight at the Provo Tabernacle. Call 377-6995 for tickets. Take in a crisp mountain vista from the back of a horse-drawn sleigh. If you don't have your own horses or sleigh, Rocky Mountain Outfitters will take care of it. Go to the Creche Exhibit in Goshen Valley. If you like miniature nativity sets, this is where you'll want to be. There will be 500 nativity sets ; on display Dec. 5-7. Make your way to 70 S. For example, compile and deliver holiday food boxes for a few families in need or participate in a Sub for Santa, Angel Tree or Giving Tree program.
