Show Dates Set For Provo Canyon Hearing The Utah Department of Transportation has set June 1 and June 2 as the dates of the Public Hearing on the Provo Canyon Highway and 8th North in Orem. The first portion of the hearing will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 1 in the Orem High School auditorium, 175 South 400 East. The hearing will then be continued Thursday Thur-sday night, June 2, in the Wasatch High School auditorium in Heber City. The main topic under discussion will be the Provo Canyon Environmental Impact Statement, a 437-page document with five supplemental sup-plemental appendices which took 19 people six years to complete. The document assesses the need for any improvement to the road system in this area and evaluates different methods of making that improvement from a standpoint of probable environmental impacts. The hearing is being held in two portions because of the scope of the projects under consideration and to make it convenient for persons on both ends of the projects to participate. par-ticipate. According to James E. Johnston, UDOT Community Com-munity Involvement Officer, persons wishing to testify may pre-register by calling 533-5659 in Salt Lake City or by writing him at 616 State Office Building, Salt Lake City, Utah 84884. All pre-registered testimony will be heard first, followed by those who submitted registration cards at the hearing itself. After all testimony has been heard from those who pre-registered or handed in registration cards, the hearing will be open for random testimony or questions from the floor. All pre-registration pre-registration requests must be received by 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 1977. Pre-registered testimony will be heard in the order of registration. No exceptions ex-ceptions will be made. For those unable to attend the hearing or those wishing to present written remarks for the record, the transcript will remain open for 15 days.
