Show AMERICAN FORK CITIZEN WEDNESDAY, Dec. 22. 1976 Year f ireoftff, IProgrsss la m tan) 'I'-L It is with warm feelings of gratitude and achievement that another year passes in the Alpine Utah Stake. It is also with an attitude of challenge and honest effort that we approach ap-proach a new year and Seek forward to new opportunities and experiences. Serving our Master and our neighbors truly brings joy to us. At the present time Alpine Stake consists of seven wards and a branch; four wards in Alpine, three in Highland and the Utah State Training School Branch. There are over 3200 members in the stake at the present time. The most important accomplishments accom-plishments of the 1976 year occurred in the lives of our members. There has been an increase in the involvement of families in all the programs of the church. Thirty-eight schouts attained the rank of Eagle Scout this year. More young couples have availed themselves of the blessings of temple marriage. Families have increased their atten dance at sacrament meetings and have also become enthusiastically enthu-siastically involved in the family preparedness program. The participation of families added to the memorable Bicentennial Bi-centennial activities during the year. The Senior Primary children raised funds and paid for the installation of a flag pole at the Stake Center. Many of our young people performed in the musical production and the Relief Society sisters hosted host-ed a festival of heritage arts. Families in our stake have emphasized missionary work, as we have maintained an average of nearly fifty-two missionaries in the missions of the church throughout the world. This year has been a year of growth for the Alpine Utah Stake. Our stake membership increased and two new wards were created. A million dollar Stake Center was completed and dedicated by President Ezra Taft Benson. Our stake combined with the American Fork and the American Fork North Stakes In the acquisition of one hundred and fifty acres LEAD STAKE MEMBERS - The Alpine Stake Pres., in charge of the affairs of the stake are: I. to r., Thayne Bateman, first-counselor; Pres. Home teaching will continue to receive emphasis and will be used as an effective means of maintaining contact with the entire membership of our stake. The missionary program will be a significant blessing to us and our goal is to have more than sixty-six missionaries in the service of our Savior during the coming year. How do we, as Latter-day Saints prepare ourselves for the coming festivities? festi-vities? We should not only give of ourselves by doing little deeds of kindness to those who need it. Christmas is a time for giving, a time for hope and a time for joy. Every now and then we need to go some place or do something that makes us want to take off our shoes and stand on holy ground as did Moses. One of these occasions could be on Christmas Eve. We can plan our work so that all confusion is over and we are ready for the wonderful hour. Short visits to the lonely could do a lot of good. Sometimes Some-times the well-to-do and the young are as lonely as the poor and the aged. Your smile and the giving of yoruself will be like a sudden ray of sunshine and a benediction to them. When you come back to your own hearth, read from the Good Book about Heavenly Father's handwriting in the sky when the Prince of Peace was born. All children love to hear the story of the birth of the Christ Child. The story never " grows old. Then read the best known verse from the New Testament, "For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish." National Health Agencies are nationwide organizations and the money raised goes to solve national problems. The United Way is designed to solve local problems and 90 percent of the money raised is used within the county. e're happy to be of service to you all tne year round, and haoov 9, ' m. r i 1 1 f 1 iu exienu eooa wisnes ior your T happiness and joy this festive season.'
