Show Churches in Midst of Building Program Not since 1901 have members memb-ers of the LDS Church in American Fork been engaged in such an extensive building program as has been carried out this past year. In the American Fork North Stake, a new stake center is expected to be completed by February of 1977. The center will accommodate members of the Fourteenth and Twentieth Wards as well as stake offices and functions. A new building to house the Fourth, Fifteenth and Nineteenth Nine-teenth Wards is expected to be completed by April, according to stake leaders. This building replaces the old Fourth Ward Church that burned to the ground in 1975. Also under construction is a new stake center in the Ameri can Fork Stake. This building will serve for stake functions and will be occupied by two of the wards in that stake. And Alpine Stake members dedicated their new stake center in 1976. Alpine Fourth Ward and Highland Third Ward also occupy this building in addition to its serving as stake offices and for stake functions. ' AS S r'. t if' . ! n '1,. 4P f t. Alpine Upholstering Women's lib endorses green Christmas For about 35 years both men and women have been sentimentally dreaming of a "White Christmas." The poignant message of Irving Berlin's popular song is dear to us all, at holiday time. However, a Green Christmas is an ancient custom cus-tom and more universally observed. At pagan winter festivals in early times, winter flowering flow-ering plants and evergreens were prized for their promise prom-ise of the return of the sun and of spring. Holly and ivy are part of that ancient heritage and were extolled in an old Christmas carol "The Holly and the Ivy." As far back as those ancient an-cient pagan games, holly was characterized as masculine, mas-culine, ivy as feminine. At a later date, it was decided that spiney-leaved hollies are "he" and smooth-leaved hollies are "she." Depending on the kind of holly brought home at the holidays, It was determined whether he or she would be head of the house, the New Year!
