First and among the most important im-portant was the membership drive. Run on a one-to-one basis with the club as a whole participating, par-ticipating, many young men in the community were contacted to join the club. "We promise many more will also receive the opportunity to join if they desire," de-sire," Mr. Seals said. The two largest projects undertaken un-dertaken by the Jaycees were the beginning of renovation of Fairyland Fairy-land Park adjacent to the Utah State Training School and the planned Youth Center. Fairyland Park is to be completely com-pletely renovated to make it more educational and theraputicfor the residents at the school and to open it further for organized community com-munity activities. The project will run through 1974 with a model of the completed park to be ready for public viewing shortly after the first of the year. This project is headed by Jed Wis-combe, Wis-combe, JayceePresidentialAide, with Jerry Seals, Betty Spencer, Spen-cer, Jay Stevens and Kent Gur-ney Gur-ney serving as committee members. mem-bers. Mrs. Spencer and Mr. Stevens represent the Training School on the project. Jhe Youth Center will be a place for many various youth activities. act-ivities. Currently plans are being be-ing proposed for financing of the project. A site for the center has been selected and many of the instructors and supervisors already committed. Chairman of this committee is Roy Jensen Jen-sen with Jaycee Cal Kesler, ehairman of the board, and committee com-mittee members Mr. Seals and City councilman Rodney Turner. The Jaycees also have carried car-ried out their yearly projects of hanging the City Christmas lights and bring Santa Claus to town and to the Training School. - They are currently selling Christmas Trees either flocked flock-ed or unflocked to raise funds to support club activities throughout the coming year. Library to Close The American Fork Library will be closed on Saturday, December 23, so patrons are asked to get books on Friday for the weekend. They also held their annual Chuckwagon breakfast during the Steel Days activities and assisted as-sisted with the parade. Paul Gordn of Honolulu, Hawaii, who stopped for a four day visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen H. Gordon and his grandmother, Mrs. Jane .. Gordon, over this past weekend. Mr. Gordon who is a Director of Health and Community Services Ser-vices Council of Hawaii was en-route en-route to San Juan, Porto Rico where he attended meetings in conjunction with his position. While here Mr. Gordon also visited with his brothers and sister, si-ster, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gordon, Gor-don, American Fork; Mr. and Mrs. Billy Candelaria and Mr. and Mrs. Gary G. Gordon, Salt Lake; and Joe Gordon, Provo. He also visited with Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Taylor of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rowland and Dr. Jay Olsen of Ogden and Mr. and Mrs. H.T. Sutton of Provo. Mrs. Gordon enjoyed a snowmobile snowmo-bile trip in American Fork Canyon and several family dinners din-ners and get to gethers. Mr. Gordon also stated that he enjoyed receiving the American Fork Citizen weekly in order to keep abreast of the local happenings. happe-nings.
