It was sponsored by the Literary League and was originally known as the "Junior Literary League." The Club Motto, "Why stay we on earth except to grow," has influenced the programs for the monthly meetings. By lecture, films and slides, we have traveled around the world. Music review and book reviews have added to our enjoyment. Through the years, Korean War Relief, cancer, heart fund, Utah County Child Guidance Clinic, Cli-nic, and the American Fork swimming pool have helped by the Club project. The Utah Training School, library, hospital, hospi-tal, County youth home, and Senior Citizens have begun projects pro-jects too. This past year, along with other community clubs, the American Fork High School band was the project. Following the Rose Bowl Trip, Drum Major George Frandsen reported to our club on the band's experiences. Fork Stake Presidency Extends Christmas Greetings As we come to the close of 1972 and look in retrospect over the years activities and changes we can truly say "It has been a very good year." The American Fork Stake has grown approximately four percent per-cent from about 4200 to 4450 members. Most of the growth has taken place in two mobile home parks, one in the Fifth Ward and one in the Seventh Ward. Many new homes have and are being built in the Tenth Ward. Last August ground was broken for a new two ward chapel in the Tenth Ward. It is anticipated that it will be finished fini-shed late next summer. New ward building libraries were completed and equipped in all of the three existing ward buildings during the year. Additional parking park-ing area was purchased near the Second and Seventh Ward chapel as well as near the Third Ward chapel. The new chapel, the land purchaser pur-chaser and the ward libraries are financed through the stake wide building fund program. Here as well as throughout the church, this method of finding new facilities is proving successful. success-ful. We feel it is imperative that spiritual values be maintained in order to overcome over-come the social and economic ills which now beset us. It is certainly unsound reasoning to assume that the Great Creator will continue to bless America as He has in the past if the people continue to turn from Him and His teachings. Christmas and New Years seems to be a most appropriate time of the year to search our hearts and evaluate our lives in relation to the things around us. b- r, mm w mmm v If you've never had a checking account, then discover a better financial way of life by checking with Mountain View Bank.
