Show NHUt i : i ll ! .' -, i- 4 CONNIE WILLIAMSON, LOCAL BEAUTICIAN, was named "Cosmetologist of the Year" at the annual Educational Symposium Sym-posium sponsored by the Utah Cosmetologist and Hairdressers Hairdress-ers Association. The symposium was held at the new Salt Palace last Monday evening. Mrs. Williamson received the large traveling trophy for having garnered the most points, during contests held during the past year. Over. 40 hairdressers hair-dressers from throughout Utah were competing for the title. Mrs. Williamson is employed at "Erma's House of Beauty." . A. F. A committee to secure candidates candi-dates has contacted several prospective pros-pective candidates or the office of mayor and two councilmen posts. Mayor F. Haws Durfey, incumbent Republican, has declined de-clined to run for a second term as Mayor of American Fork City. Council posts presently held by Republican Joseph B. Hanson and Democrat Norman E. Shum-way Shum-way will also be filled in the No-vember No-vember Municipal election. Councilman Hanson has also declined de-clined renomination. Nominations for all positions on the ballot will be accepted from the floor Friday evening, according to precinct officers. All Republicans interested in city government are urged to at 'immw 7 ! Framed plaques were presented to Lawrence W. Hansen Han-sen and Robert D. Hardy at the annual scouting banquet held in the stake tabernacle. Mr. Hansen "has spent most of his life in helping others." He has served as a counselor in the bishopric, superintendent of the YMMIA, president of the Seventy Quorum, Sunday School teacher and member of the Sunday Sun-day School superintendency. He is also active in the Lions Club. To the young men of the First Ward, and to those of the Alpine Scouting District, however, he is "recognized as one of the most devoted and faithful assistant Scoutmasters a troop could ask for." Fields from Boise, Idaho, met with the American Fork Rotary Club in a Club Assembly on Tuesday, September 23, at the Alpine Country Club. This was a meeting of all the committee chairmen. Reports were made to the Governor on what was planned to be accomplished by the various committees during the coming year.
