Winnsrs l!:ir.:d In Handicraft S!:cl Days Sbw Sweepstakes winners were announced an-nounced by officials of the Handicraft Hand-icraft Show, which was held in the basement of the stake tabernacle taber-nacle ia connection with the 1969 Steel Days events. Sweepstakes awards were presented pre-sented to the following winners: LouCille Carlisle, refinished antique an-tique bedroom set; Training School resident, hooked rug; Marvin Laycock, burned leather picture; Bertha Barhiel, mosaics of picture and butterflys; Mabel Adamson, quilted picture; Oral Eskelson, polished gem stones; Blaln Dickman, rock and gem stones. Eloise Ferguson, pieced quilt of flower garden design; Margaret Mar-garet Stoker, inlaid design end table; Bonnie Selman, blue and white cross stitch quilt; Marily Pratt, afghan; Meda Hunsaker, applique quilt. Winners in the junior division under 12 years of age, received certificates of merits, with ribbon rib-bon awards presented to winners in the Senior Division. Many delightful entries were exhibited in the handicraft show, with winners receiving ribbons Hunter Safety Course Slated Here Aug. 8, 9 A Hunter Safety and Survival Class will be taught in tttoSenior Citizens Hall in American Fork on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Instructor for the class will be Duane D. Call who is certified by both the Utah State Department of Fish and Game and the National Rifle Association. Mrs. Call, likewise certified, will teach Gun-safety in the home. Mothers are Invited. The class will be held in the Senior Citizen's Hall, 60 East Main Street, American Fork at 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday, August 8 and at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, August 9. We will finish about 1 p.m. Boys and girls 11 years or older are invited to take the class with registration being held Friday August 8. The fee will be $1.50 per person which includes everything except cartridges. Each person will need to bring Saturday morning: A blanket, rug, etc. to lay on, a card-board box large enough to hold two sheets of paper, 8" x 11 12, at least 35 cartridges, calibre .22. It is suggested that everyone bring a full box. Three Am. Fork All-Star Teams Enter Tourney Play American Fork's Western Boys Baseball teams have corn-completed corn-completed league play and are now eagerly awaiting All-Star tournament play, that begins tomorrow to-morrow for all three leagues. American Fork American League Lea-gue will host the two day tourney, to be held at Lynch Park, (Greenwood School), Friday, and Saturday, August 1, 2. League President, Dave Street is serving as tournament direc tor and he and his staff are to be congratulated for the condi tion of the playing field, and the many details that go into making a successful tournament. Heloinsr Mr. Street are Phil Tidwell, first vice president; E J. Lee, second vice president and secretary, Sharon Street Paul Durrant painted the dugouts dug-outs free. Dick Denner leades the umpires. Bob Brooks will serve as of ficial scorekeeper, ElwoodSor enson and John Bennett are in charge of the grounds. Mrs. El wood Sorenson and Mrs. Phil Tidwell have the snack bar. Team manager Ted Hoskins and coach Ted Strong will head the American League All-Star team that selected the following players: Rick Street. Ty Brown, DeVerl Glines and Don Alexander Alexan-der from the Yanks; Greg Gard ner, Albert Fitzgerald and Bruce Frandsen from the Tigers; Billy May, Mike Warenski, David Pack, Gary Hoggard, and Robert Shelby from the Sox. The Indians will be represented by Casey Draney, David Nelson and DeR Green. These boys as a group appear to rate as top contenders. To-date To-date in practice play they have shown a good defense, pretty good hitting and tough pitching. As always in tournament play a couple of breaks along the way means the difference between being contenders and champions, so let's hope our A. F. teams get a few breaks. One they could use would be a large turnout of supporters down at Lynch Park for the games at 4 p.m. and at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the finals at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The Friday schedule will match Springville's Spring Creek a- gainst Bountiful Natiunal in the 4 p.m. contest and in the featured game at 2 p.m. Am. Fork Americans Amer-icans test Tooele Nationals. Saturday at 2 p.m. first round losers play, and at 4 p.m. the first day winners play for the chance to advance into the second round playoff. The players from the league, representing the All-Stars All-Stars are Doug Doyle, Tony Anderson, An-derson, Allen Jensen, Neil Chad-wick Chad-wick and Jeff Barratt from the Darts. Carl Milligan, Mike Bond, Bryan Hansen, Danny Limb, and Gary Cook from the Wasps. Play-' ers from the Hornets on the team are Ron Sorenson and Max Murdock. Mur-dock. The Bees, RyanSmith, Paul Richins and Allen Smith complete the squad. The Beehive All-Star in play to-date also have shown that they have all the tools needed to go all the way in tournament play. Bountiful and Lehi teams complete com-plete the field. The National League will also travel for the opening round when they go to Springville to take on the host team there, Springville vs. Spring Creek. Other teams in the field are Bountiful and Morgan.
