Invitations have been mailed, rehearsals concluded and construction con-struction and technical facilities completed for the second summer sum-mer run, extending through July and August. Following the season's sea-son's premiere, admission will be by tickets Issued free to tourists on Temple Square. The theater has been enlarged by 436 seats to accommodate 2,400 patrons. The stage has been covered with outdoor carpeting car-peting to improve acoustlce and provide extra comfort and safety to the performers. Sound and lighting systems have been expanded ex-panded and improved. Rehearsals for the fast-moving hour-long performance indicate that the chorus and orchestra will be improved over last season with the previous year's experience. exper-ience. The cast has been afforded af-forded extraordinary prestige with the engagement of Robert Peterson, Utah baritone, who has won wide acclaim on the concert stage and on Broadway. Keith M. Engar, executive director, and Ardean W. Watts, musical director, have been pleased with the enthusiasm and dedication of the young volunteer cast of 30, chorus of 88 and orchestra of 96. The performers, mostly in their teens, have been drawn from the Mutual Improvement Association and will perform throughout July and August without with-out pay. "Promised Valley'' was written writ-ten by Arnold SundgaTd, Broadway Broad-way playwright, and Crawford Gates, Utah composer and orchestra or-chestra director, for the 1947 Utah Centennial. Originally It ran two hours and 15 minutes but the present version has been cut to one hour. The show has been produced by scores of groups throughout the Church but is skyrocketing to fresh prominence through the shortened short-ened version on the Temple View Theater outdoor stage. Last year approximatley 134,000 tourists tour-ists and local residents saw the production. The schedule this year calls for 54 performances. Tailored to the tourist patronage pat-ronage on Temple Square, performances per-formances will start at 9:30p.m. daily except Sunday throughout August. The free tickets can be obtained only on Temple Square.
