Thursday, October 13, 1966 Prominent Speaker1 Slates Provo ' Lecture October 13 Major Pedro Diaz Lanz, Commander-in-Chief of Communist Dictator Fidel Castro's Air Force until July 1, 1959, will address a public audience in Provo, Utah on October 13 at 8:00 p.m. at Eldred Center 270 West 5th North. His topic will be "Civil Turmoil From Havana to Watts." This lecture Is one of 17 consecutive evening lectures and ten luncheon appearances ap-pearances that he will make throughout the four Corner States., . i ' Major Lanz is one of the non-Communists non-Communists who helped Castro Convert Cuba to a Communist state. He participated In Castro's Cas-tro's demonstrations, shouting the battle cry of the Cuban Revo lution, "We Shall Overcome." He fought many battle beside Castro during the Sierra Maestra days and acted as Castro's personal per-sonal pilot. Fidel Castro came to power January 1, 1959, and Immediate ly displayed the typical Communist Com-munist ruthlessness and com plete disregard for human life in his barbaric stadium trials. The true nature of the Cuban Revolution was thus revealed to Major Lanz. Major Lanz states, "My first thought was how could I best undo the great wrong. I had done my people by unwittingly helping to turn Cuba over to the Communist Commu-nist conspirators. I decided to stay In Cuba until I had gathered sufficient evidence to expose the Communist control of Castro's regime." Six months later; on July I, 1959, he resigned his command, denounced Castro as a Communist, Commu-nist, and with his wife and children, chil-dren, fled to the United States. With cries of "traitor," "deserter, "de-serter, and "ours is not a Communist movement," emanating emana-ting from Cuba, Major Lanz testified tes-tified before the Senate Internal Security Sub-committee on July 11, 1959 and again on July 13. He warned the Committee of the grave dangerstotheUnitedStates if we allowed Castro to build and fortify a Communist dictatorship dictator-ship only 90 miles from our shores. . Major Lanz active participa- mn nm casH by AH FORK "They even have a spruce-up spruce-up committee which is made up of 500 block clubs which are responsible for , seeing that streets and houses are kept clean. "Good housekeeping housekeep-ing Is related to crime prevention pre-vention and law enforcement," Margaret Moore, one of the leaders and developers of the Indianapolis program : said. According to Mrs. Moore, statistics sta-tistics show less crime In neighborhoods , that were cleaned up. "We have found," she said, "on driving through alleys and meeting people that where people keep the area clean and families have clean houses and decent meals, husbands hus-bands stay home more, children chil-dren are happier and there tends to be less crime." tlon in the civil disobedience that preceded and helped to bring about the Communist take over of Cuba well qualifies him to speak on the subject of "Civil Turmoil from Havana to Watts," pointing out the "Striking simi larity between my acts in Cuba and the civil turmoil that we see taking place throughout the United States today." All citizens should hear this extraordinary man. This program pro-gram is one In , a continuing series of lectures sponsored by TACT.
