Eric Larsen Larsen earns Eagle award Eric Larsen, son of Mr. and Mrs-Gregory Mrs-Gregory Larsen, received his Eagle Scout Award May 16 in a special Eagle Court of Honor held at the Highland Church. Eric is a mem-ber mem-ber of Troop 860 in the Highland 10th Ward. For his Eagle service project, Eric planted flowers at the Highland High-land Church. Zachary Blackburn Blackburn receives Eagle Zachaxy Blackburn, son of Scott and Maxine Blackburn, received his Eagle Scout A ward on March 3 1 in a special Eagle Court of Honor held at the Alpine Fifth Ward. Zachary is a member of Troop 8 15 in Alpine. For his Eagle project he planned and organized a ere w of boys that planted over 2,000 plants used for deer browse on the hills aboye Pleasant Grove. Zachary is in the eighth grade at American Fork Junior H igh School. He enjoys theoutdoors and hunting and fishing. He has also received his Duty to God, Faith in God, and Arrow of Light Awards. Zachary seryed as president of the Deacons Quorum and is .currently .cur-rently ser vingas a Blazer assistant and as first counselor in his Teachers Teach-ers Quorum in the Alpine Fifth Ward. Mary Greenwood Greenwood is selected By GINGER HANSEN Mary Greenwood hag been selected se-lected as thisyears American Fork High School representative forGirls State. Mary is the daughter of Steve and Sandy Green wood of American Fork and well qualified to be the recipient of this honor. Girls State is a week long camp that will be held at Southern Utah University from June 7-12. Its focus fo-cus will be learning about the government gov-ernment and how it works. The girls who attend will get hands on training as they enter the imaginary imagi-nary state and set up a mock government gov-ernment electing officials and Enforcing the rules they create. Mary will be well prepared for this activity as she has been involved in-volved in the City Youth Council and worked with the American Legion. She has been active in many areas of school as well: A Capella choir, journalism and drama. She participated in the drama's production pro-duction of "Quilters" and writes for the school newspaper. She is a talented writer and has won the Reflections Contest and the Creative Writing Contest for her poetry. She enjoys readingclas-sic&l readingclas-sic&l literature, singing, acting, and writing. She is excited to be attending attend-ing Girls State this year and said, "I've always been interested in the government and now I have the opportunity to learn more about it Our You've Reached A Milestone In Your Lives But The Future Is Still Ahead.
