Show Obituaries Citizen, Press, Review - Thurs., Feb. 21, 1991 - Page 9 Esther M. Cartwright Reed S. Thompson Esther Moonev Wilson Mayne Cartwright, 87, died Feb. 11, 1991 in American Ameri-can Fork. She was born Feb. 8, 1904 in Provo, a daughter daugh-ter of Hugh and Mette Marie Christensen Mooney. She married George T. Wilson. They were later divorced. She married Joseph J. Mayne Oct. 9, 1928, in Provo. He died May 5, 1950. She married Louis Cartwright. He died in 1957. She worked as a nurses aide at the American Fork Hospital Hospi-tal for 18 years. She was a member of the LDS Church, American Fork 6th Ward. She was a member mem-ber of the American Fork Senior Citizens and the Old Folks Committee. She was talented in tatting and taught the art. She is survived by four sons and two daughters: Hindley Mayne, Douglas Mayne, both of American Fork; Jack E. Mayne. San Jose, Calif.; Paul H. Wilson, Anaheim, Calif.; Edna M. Cox, Ogden; Arlene Hanks, Esk Dale, Utah; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Thella M. Street and a son, Darwin Mayne. Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 15, in the Anderson & Sons Mortuary Chapel. Burial was in the American Ameri-can Fork City Cemetery. Earl J. Howes Earl John Duke Howes, 84, Orem, died Feb. 14, 1991, in Provo after a short illness. He was born June 13, 1906, a son of John Henry and Mary Ellen Greenwood Howes in American Fork. He married Reva Richards Sept. 28, 19 39, in Salt Lake City. She died June 12, 1979". He then married mar-ried Vivian Johnson Gardner Aug. 8, 1985. He graduated from American Fork High School. He enjoyed fishing, fish-ing, traveling, bowling and he loved to dance. He also enjoyed gardening. garden-ing. He lived in Carbon County, then moved to Salt Lake City. He also lived in Springville for a short time, spending the last two years in Orem. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He enjoyed going to the temple. He was a home teacher and a ward librarian. Survivors include his wife of Orem; two stepdaughters step-daughters and three step-sons: Susan Pratt, Aberdine, Idaho; Beverly Bev-erly R. Webb, Salt Lake Milton R. Jacob Milton Russell Jacob, 84, died Feb. 16, 1901, in Mesa, Ariz. He was born June 15, 1906, in Pleasant Grove, a son of Milton and Mary Augusta Carlson Jacob. He married Bemice Adams Aug. 19, 1931, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in 1985. He was a pharmacist pharma-cist at the Thornton Drug Store in Pleasant Grove and then at Hedquist Drug in Provo. He worked 25 years at Geneva Steel Company. He was a member of the LDS Church and held the office of High Priest. He was a member mem-ber of the Provo 22nd Ward until two years ago, when he moved to Tempe, Ariz.,tobenear his daughter and her family. I Ie is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Janet) Tuomisto; two City; Richard M. Gardner, Gard-ner, Larry M. (Bud) Gardner, both of Orem ; Robert K. Gardner of Springville. he is also survived by three grandchildren, grand-children, nine greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, one brother, Ray Howes, American Fork. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Howes. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Northridge Stake Center, Orem. Burial Bur-ial will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Reed Shelley Thompson, Th-ompson, 76, died Feb. 14, 1991, in Provo. He was bom Aug. 26, 1914, in American Fork, the son of Russell and Vera Shelley Thompson. He married Ruth West Dec. 14, 1934, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in 160. He married Genevieve Matthews Oct. 19, 1962, in the Manti LDS Temple. He was a high priest in the LDS Church. He was a member of the American Fork Volunteer Volun-teer Fire Department for 45 years and served as assistant chief for 10 years. He was a bus driver for Alpine School District for 25 years. He helped found the Highland High-land Culinary Water Company and was presently pres-ently its president, having served since its beginning. He served on various irrigation wa- - V J- ter boards for over 30 years. He worked for U.S. Steel on its construction construc-tion and later as a fireman. fire-man. He left U.S. Steel to farm. He is survived by his wife of Highland; sons and daughters: Mrs. Don (Pearl) Mower, American Fork; Alan Thompson, Mark Thompson, Th-ompson, Vern Matthews, Mat-thews, all of Highland; James Thompson, Provo; Blaine Thompson, Th-ompson, IjOgan; Mrs. Richard (Lana) Marsden, Kaysville; Cornelius tNeal) Matthews, Mat-thews, Roosevelt; Verl Matthews, Panguitch; Arlen Matthews, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Ronald (Geneal) Masterson, Renton, Wash.; Marion Matthews, Boise, Idaho; 44 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Mrs. Darrell (June) Dean of American Fork; Phyllis Thompson of Provo; Mrs. J.T. (Ruth) Larson, Aberdeen, Idaho; Carl Thompson, Lehi. He was preceded in death by one son, Gary. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Highland High-land East Stake Center. Cen-ter. Burial was in the American Fork City Cemetery. Gerald Thomas Gerald Thomas, 61, died Feb. 15, 1991, at a Salt Lake City hospital. hospi-tal. He was born Sept. 5, 1929, in Tabiona to Edward and Annie Jol-ley Jol-ley Thomas. His family moved to Provo shortly after his birth. He was a resident of Salt Lake City since 1954. He married LaRae Hansen Nov. 14, 1954, in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized sol-emnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. I Ie was an active high priest in the LDS Church. He was an employee of Albertsons for the past 16 years. I Ie is survived by his wife; children: Mrs. Craig (Joanne) Danger-field, Danger-field, and Jay Thomas, both of Sandy; Robert Thomas, Kaysville; Mrs. Jay (Patricia) Cradford, Salt Lake City; four grandchildren; a sister, Donna Morley, Provo. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Winder Ward. Burial was in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Memo-rial Park.
