Paul Whitlock. owner of the firm, says he is an authorized RCA dealer and of fers both sales and service of all RCA items including the video disc. He also has televisions, and offers service for "whatever we sell." He has over 300 movies currently and says he is adding more each month. These may be rented for viewing or may be purchased. Among them are westerns, science fiction, Disney, mysteries, comedies, all the James Bond movies and John Wayne's, as well as many others. He offers a video club with a $9.95 membership fee. Movies rent for $6.50 for two movies and a machine Monday through Thursday, and $7.95 for two movies and machine for Friday and Saturday. The machine alone rents for $5 and movies foi $1 .50. He says he discs offer viewers a "better q tality picture than cassettes," and invites area residents in to get acquainted with this fairly new to the area movie mode. He says he has an "excellent service man" for RCA televisions and products, says he has completed com-pleted the RCA service training. Handicapped Awareness is an agency in the community involved with helping people help themselves. them-selves. Their goal is to reach out to physically handicapped adults with a variety of programs aimed at giving these people an opportunity not only to improve physically, but to live fuller and happier lives. There is an on-going need for volunteers according to Barry Fillmore, Recreation Coordinator. The crucial need at this time is for volunteers who can help in the swimming program each Wednesday Wed-nesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Orem Recreation Center. Participants in the swimming therapy have varying degrees of phsycial disabilty, many of them ned someone with them constantly with them in the water. The success of the program depends upon reliable volunteers, Mr. Fillmore says that the agency will cooperate fully in the transportation of volunteers if needed. Volunteers living in the Orem area can be picked up by the agency van, and Fillmore will be able to pick up others in his own van. He says there is a shortage of female volunteers who are needed to help the women in the program get into swimming suits and get dressed afterwards. Handicapped Awareness serves about 700 handicapped adults in a variety of was described as H.E.A.R.T. - programs set up hi Housing, Employment, Ac$ cessibility (to public buildings), Recreation and Transportation as they apply to handicapped persons. Because of the broad scope of programs, there is always a need for volunteer help. Individuals interested in giving time to Handicapped Awareness programs, or to any other need in the community, may call Voluntary Tech sponsors cooking class Utah Technical College at ProvoOrem's Hotel-Restaurant Department and DECA Club will sponsor a two night cooking workshop Jan. 25 and 26. ' The workshop will feature cooking skills of Ron Scott, Food and Beverage director at the Excelsior Ex-celsior Hotel; and Fred Kaskowitz, executive chef for the hotel. Cost for the workshop will be $10, which wil lbe used to support DECA students in future state and national competition. Volunteers are also needed at the school to help young children in exercise therapy such as learning to ride tricycles, using the swings and other playground equipment. The Oakridge School can use volunteers such as assisting for the school Christmas production, office help, and lunch helpers. The Provo Adult High School Refugee Program needs volunteers to teach survival English to refugees. No experience is necessary - they will train and supervisie the volunteer tutors. Especially needed are residents of Orem, American Fork, Springville and Provo. Volunteer families, group andor individuals are needed for the Sub-for-Santa program.
