The l.ehi Area Chamber of Commerce members invite all high school students in the Alpine Schixl District to participate par-ticipate in the Classic Country Talent Showdown on .June 11. Up to 10 students will be chosen at the semi-final level and will perform in the second half of the Classic Country show on June 21 One winner will represent the Lehi Area in the state finals. The overall winner at the finals will receive a long list of great prizes including an all-expense all-expense paid trip to Nashville, Tennessee for the student and their parents. Eagle Mountain City t Sawyer Brown comes to town Popular country music mu-sic group Sawyer Brown will be in concert at Lagle Mountain's Moun-tain's Silver Lake Amphitheater Amphi-theater on June 2 during the city's 10th anniversary Pony Kxpress Days celebration. Sawyer Brown came to prominence after winning first place on the television show "Star Search," the "American Idol" of the 1980s. Now after 23 years they've performed over 3,500 shows and earned gold and platinum albums featuring hits such as "The Walk," "Some Girls Do" and "The Dirt Road." The five man band consists of frontman Mark Miller, bassist Jim Scholten, drummer drum-mer Joe Smyth, keyboardist (jreg Hubbard, and guitarist Shayne Hill. "Get'cha Head in the Game" from the High School Musical soundtrack is one of the many popular songs performed by the five-member band. The concert is sponsored by Radio Disney and Eagle Mountain City. B5 is signed with Bad Boy Records, rapperproducer Sean "Diddy" Combs' label. Their new album "Don't Talk, Just Listen" will be released Sept. 18. Taja, a female trio from South Jordan, and Bre, a senior se-nior at Bingham High School will be opening for B5 the night of the concert. Taja's debut single "Don't Even Try It" was featured on the soundtnack for the Disney TV Movie "Pixel Perfect," which they also appeared in. They have also performed at the Disneyland House of Blues and The Roxy in Hollywood. Hol-lywood. Bre has performed locally since 2002 and is currently cur-rently part of the national My Pop 8 Tour. SCERA I Association to play at SCERA The Association will appear under the stars at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre in Orem on Memorial Day, May 28, at 8 p.m. Seating is festival style on a grassy hill and patrons may bring blankets or rent a chair for $1. General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children (age 3-11), students stu-dents (wID) and seniors (age 65). Brigham Young University I Monte L. Bean Life Sciences Museum at BYU hosts summer programs Brigham Young University's Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum has launched a host of summer activities ac-tivities for children of all ages. ' From May through August, the museum will welcome the public to participate in special summer activities that are both fun and educational. The activities include: I Discovery Reading: Every Wednesday at 11 a.m. a professional profes-sional storyteller will share stories sto-ries about nature and animals. The sessions are free and all ages are welcome. I Nature Experienceships: On three separate occasions May through July, children ages 12 and older will spend an afternoon outside with experts learning about topics such as trees and shrubs, birds and insects. in-sects. The cost is $10 per child. Saturday Safaris: Beginning Begin-ning on Saturday, May 26, children ages 5 through 12 are invited to spend Saturday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the museum learning about animals from all over the world. The cost is $12 for the first child and $10 for each additional child in the same family. I Wildlife Adventures: Each week in June, children ages 6 through 12 will spend Tuesday and Thursday afternoons participating par-ticipating in classes and field trips exploring topics such as dinosaurs, space, caves and reptiles. The cost is $35 per child for each week-long class. I Free Movie Nights: Once a month the museum will invite the public to a watch a movie in its Tanner auditorium. Admission Ad-mission is free.
