Among his callings were those of Stake missionary, Ward clerk. Bishop, and Temple ordinance worker. As he grew more infirm, he spent many hours doing extraction work and working work-ing on his family history. He was loved by his family and made a positive difference in the lives of those he touched. l.ynn is survived by his wife, Janis, and three children and their sxiuses Linda and David Gordon, Mark and Susannah (Weight) Nilsson. and Robert and Dorothy (Matthews) Nilsson. He and Janis have 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, with 3 more to be born this year. Lynn is also survived by his brother, Bruce Nilsson. Utah, passed away unexpectedly March 9. 2007, in Gunnison. Utah. He was born August 23. 1948. in Lehi, Utah, to Darrow Lydale and Marie Durrani Peterson. He married Lynda Haws, April 7, 1969, in Lehi. Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple, August 20, 1980. Pete was an avid duck hunter, sportsman, prospector and loved camping and being in the outdoors He enjoyed shooting and had won several awards as a sharpshooter. He lived a long and enjoyable enjoy-able life and passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving lov-ing family on March 6, 2007. He grew up in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. He was a mmmmmmm radar operator during World War II, serving in New (Juinea and the Philippine Islands. He married his eternal sweetheart, sweet-heart, Naomi Fae Shepherd, on November 2, 1946. He was called back into military service during dur-ing the Korean War and served as a radar operatorinstructor in Olathe, Kansas. He spent his life as a builder and served as president of the Utah Valley Home Builders Association. As-sociation. Many schools, government govern-ment buildings, and homes will stand as memorials to his talents and skills. He donated his services ser-vices in building the Senior Citizen Center in Pleasant Grove as a gift to the city. He had a strong work ethic and taught his children the value of hard work in all aspects of their lives. He moved the family fam-ily to a farm on West Mountain so his five sons could have work to do during their teenage years. w" " "" ,f'vim i Robert D. Foster 1947-2007 Robert Dennis Foster, age 60, passed away March 11, 2007, from kidney cancer. Bob was born on March 2, 1947, in Nam-pa, Nam-pa, Idaho, the son of John Ray and Ella-fair Ella-fair Kendrick Foster. He grew up in Nampa and loved the rural ru-ral feel of the community. After attending at-tending one year at Ricks College, Bob served an LDS mission to the F.astern States. Upon his return he attended BYU for two years before he "won" the Vietnam draft lottery and joined the army in 1970. Following basic training, Bob was assigned to Schweinfurt, Germany, with the troops patrolling patrol-ling the east-west border during the Cold War. While stationed there, he began to correspond with Tina Vilches. They were married in the LDS temple on January 22, 1972; later divorced. From this union were born three children whom he dearly loved: Rebecca Foster, Mishka Foster, and Micah Foster. Bob served a total of ten years in the military. After returning from Germany he was stationed in the Washington D.C. area. Through the military he was able to complete his bachelor's degree in computer science at BYU, after which he worked for four years at the Pentagon. Bob enjoyed his time in the service and was always al-ways grateful for the opportunity to serve his country. In 1980 Bob began to work for Ore-Ida Foods in Boise, Idaho. Two years later he moved to Utah to join the Family History Department Depart-ment of the LDS Church in developing devel-oping new genealogy computer systems. He was on the initial core team that developed Personal Ancestral File, and he also designed de-signed the conceptual framework for GEDCOM-a program that enables en-ables various computer programs to share genealogical information. Later Bob led a team that developed devel-oped portions of the LDS Church Internet site. He ended his career in data security, having completed the stringent jstjuirements necessary neces-sary to become Certified as a data Dale "Pete" Peterson Centerfield, Utah retired in 2005 after 30 years. He was well respected respect-ed for his vast knowledge of corrections. If he wasn't working, he was with his family stream fishing, boating, boat-ing, or camping. camp-ing. He loved the mountains and volunteered volun-teered to inspect buildings build-ings for the US Forest Service in the Uintah and Fish Lake National Forests. He .11.. .L1..IH was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his wife, Naomi, and eight children; Janene (Loel) DuBois; Sunda (Tom) Lindsay; Lind-say; Nancy (Vern) Pyne; Deloy (Linda) Adams; Kevin (Laurie) Adams; Brad (Ann) Adams; Randy (Tammy) Adams; Kelly (LeaAnn) Adams. His posterity includes 33 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren with 2 more expected soon. One daughter, Mary Teresa, preceded him in death. He is survived by one sister, sis-ter, Mary Swensen. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 10, 2007, at 11:00 am, at the LDS 5th Ward Chapel, 225 South 400 East in Payson, Utah. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. He was a dear husband to her and became a wonderful influence in the lives of her family members, including children Bryan Brown, Becky Brown, Gregory and Elizabeth Grimshaw, Adriel and Deborah Burkholder, Mike Brown, James and Marianne Cone; and grandchildren grand-children Jason and Jared Brown; Meg and William Grimshaw; Allison, Al-lison, Isaac, Anna, and Jonathan Burkholder; and J.J. Cone. Bob was sincere in his commitments commit-ments to his family and church, having participated in church service throughout his life. He had a gift for accepting people as they are but also nurturing their potential. po-tential. A teacher once described him as "good, steady Bob," and he remained a man of honesty and integrity throughout his life. He loved science, the outdoors, and the world of nature and was committed com-mitted to continued growth and learning in every aspect of his life. In addition to his wife, children, step-children, and grandchildren, Bob is survived by his brother John (Karen) Foster and sister Delores (Dee) Lowder, parents-in-law Gordon and Velma Miller, and in-laws Stephen (Karen) Miller, Richard (Jenae) Miller, and Francis Vassar. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jacqueline Vassar, and grandson Joshua Brown. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 17, at 11:00 am in the Holladay North Stake Center, 4395 S. Albright Drive, Holladay, Utah.
