The meeting was Wednesday (Oct.l) at Orem Senior Friendship Center Both problems are related to the county's increasing population growth, which is expanding at the rate of 13,000 per year, he said. Education is the number one challenge for most families, fam-ilies, he stated. While we have wonderful education programs, we will be adding 100,000 new students in the next ten years. In addition, the new "No Child Left Behind" program mandated by the federal government will add additional costs to all school districts. "We use 1-15 like a highway, high-way, he told the group. It is becoming increasingly strangled. While the state has plans for enlarging the interstate, at the present plans for completion are dated 2020 "Somehow, we must change that" Herbert declared. Raised taxes are a real possibility. Utah County is considered consid-ered the "best managed county in the state" he said with the lowest cost of government gov-ernment in the state.
