There were five reports on that taken last night. 72503 Two purses were stolen from an unlocked car Wednesday night parked in the area of 1500 S. 300 E. Officers arrested a 29-year-old man, of Orem, early Friday morning (12:30 a.m.) for possession of Heroin and paraphernalia. He had gone into the public rest room at the Hampton Inn at 851 W. 1250 S. and used the Heroin there, he was discovered when he started yelling for help while still locked in his bathroom stall. Employees of the Inn answered his cries and he told them a strange man was looking under his bathroom stall. The police were called and tried to coax him out of the stall but finally opened the door. He made a quick effort to flush the evidence of his drug use down the toilet, toi-let, but there was too much stuff and it wouldn't flush. Officers retrieved the evidence evi-dence and he was booked into the Utah County Jail. A 19-year-old Provo man was cited for reckless driving Thursday night after he was reported to be chasing another vehicle at 900 W 400 N. Officers spotted spot-ted the green pickup truck at 500 N. State. When stopped, the man told the officer he was chasing the other driver because the other driver owed him money on a 2-year-old debt and he was just trying to collect. The Provo man was given a court date for the reckless driving charge and also advised that as long as he was going to be at the court, he ought to check out the socially accepted practice prac-tice of using the court (small claims) as a method to collect bad debts, there's much less personal risk involved. 72803 Seven auto burglaries reported of vehicle parked in the area around 600 S. between Main and 300 West. On several of the vehicles, the contents of the cars were ransacked, but nothing missing. On others, stereo equipment and CDs were reported stolen. Cars had been left unlocked and some cars were inside garages. We've gotten several phoney $50 bills that have been passed in the last week or so around town. Officer Chris Rockwood made a traffic stop Friday afternoon at Center and State Street for a traffic violation. vio-lation. The driver of the car, a 21-year-old man, of Orem, had a nationwide warrant out for his arrest out of Idaho. Idaho authorities were contacted and indicated indicat-ed that they would extradite extra-dite him. He was booked into the Utah County Jail. Someone broke into Westmore Elementary at 1150 S. Main sometime early Saturday morning. The burglar apparently cut his or her hand while breaking break-ing in as there was blood on door nobs and light switches switch-es inside the school. So far, nothing has been reported missing. A 19-year-old Pleasant Grove man came to the Orem Public Safety Building on Sunday morning morn-ing to bail out a friend being held on another charge. Instead of bailing out his friend, he joined him in the holding area because he had a warrant for his arrest. Officer Greg Olney went to 742 N. 400 E. Sunday afternoon just after Noon to serve a $2500 arrest warrant on 19-year-old man. He was still sleeping sleep-ing but slipped out the bedroom bed-room window when he learned that officers police were at the front door. He was located a short time later at the home of a friend and arrested. His friend tried to hide his presence from the police officers despite knowing about the warrant. He was booked into the County Jail and the friend will be referred to juvenile court for obstruction obstruc-tion of justice. 72903 A red 1999 Yamaha Banshee 4-wheeler was stolen sometime Sunday night from a home in the area of 1600 N. 1200 W. There were no keys with the vehicle, but it wasn't locked up. The thief simply rolled it away from front yard of the home where it had been listed for sale, and took it. Several Mac Computers, two Epson projectors, pro-jectors, a digital camera and a Cannon 35 mm camera were reported stolen from Windsor Elementary School at 1315 N. Main Street sometime since July 15th. The reporting person indicated indi-cated that that was last time she had checked a storage stor-age room wherein all this equipment was located. She went to the storage room Monday morning and noticed that things were moved around and that the above items were missing. Total value on the stolen items is approximately $9000. The SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre will present pres-ent " West Side Story" under the stars August 6-16 8 p.m. (No shows Tuesdays or Sundays). As a work that changed the face of musical theater forever, " West Side Story" focuses on the ability of love to thrive in the most difficult of circumstances with the most compelling forces against it. The tragic consequences of intolerance unfold amid gang violence when little more than the color of one's skin determines who is loved and who is hated.
