TAYLOR JACOBSON AND MELANIE ANNE EICHER Melanie Anne Eicher to marry J. Taylor Jacobson May 20th Melanie Anne Eicher will marry J. Taylor Jacobson on Tuesday, May 20, 1997, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. An open house will honor the couple that evening between 6 and 8 p.m. in Springdell, Provo Canyon. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Curtis and Dianna Eicher of Canyon Lake, Texas. Her fiance is the son of Cardell and Rosanne Jacobson of Springdell, Provo Canyon. Both Melanie and Taylor work for local firms. Taylor served in the Bogota North Colombia Mission and is a computer science student stu-dent at Brigham Young University. ' m. A J, ..;. . '.r . I v ' - i JOSEPH SHARP AND JENNIFER JONES Jennifer Jones will marry Joseph Sharp in Salt Lake Temple Jennifer Jones will marry Joseph Marlin Sharp on Friday, May 16, 1997, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A reception will honor the couple that evening from 6-8 p.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 500 South 600 West in Orem. The bride is the daughter of Ron and Cheryl Jones of Spanish Fork. She graduated from Enterprise High School and LDS Seminary in Redding, California. She is currently attending at-tending Brigham YoungUniver-sity YoungUniver-sity where she's studying Elementary Education. The groom is the son of Marlin Mar-lin and Julia Sharp of Orem. he graduated from Orem High School and LDS Seminary, he served a full-time mission in Roseville, California. He is currently cur-rently attending Brigham Young University studying Graphic Design. Jennifer will be attended by Karrie Golding, and her sisters Julie and Kristy Jones. Joseph will be attended by Jeff, Robbie, and Stephen Jones, and his brothers Jacob and Jonathan Sharp. The couple will reside in Provo. Utah Writers The League of Utah Writers, Utah Valley Chapter meets the third Wednesday of every month downstairs in the Provo City Library Multi-purpose room at 7 p.m. For May 21st, our guest speaker will be AttorneyPublisher AttorneyPub-lisher Gary Gregerson, who will speak on the legal aspects of sel f-publishing f-publishing and the ups and downs of bringing his book, Utah Roadside History to print. In celebration of their parents' 50th wedding anniversary, anniver-sary, the children of Jim and Dorene Nielsen --- Sherrie, Rex, and Dale will host an open house to honor their parents on Saturday, May 17, 1997, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Nielsen home at 633 South 700 West, Orem. The Nielsens were married in the Logan Temple on April 25, 1947. In the Nielsen's retirement retire-ment years, they have been ac tive in service to the community, schools, and entertaining children. In particular, they have enjoyed performing as "Dunky Dory" and "Mr. Jim", the clowns in schools and in i parades. They have also served the community as Pacesetters for the ProvoOrem Chamber of Commerce. Your kind thoughts and best wishes are the only gifts that they need. Cynthia Bobbins to marry Mark Hoffman in Salt Lake Temple Cynthia Robbins, daughter of Arthur and Sandra Robbins of Orem, will marry Mark D. Hoffman, Hof-fman, son of Gus and Becky Hoffman Hof-fman of Salt Lake City, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 15, 1997. A reception dinner will be held that evening in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. The bride-to-be is a graduate of Orem High School and LDS Seminary. She also graduated from Ricks with an Associate's Degree and from BYU with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Elemen-tary Education. Cindy currently current-ly teaches 6th grade at Orchard Elementary in Orem, and volun teers at UVRMC in Provo. The groom is a graduate of Skyline High School and LDS Seminary. He received his Bachelor's Degree from BYU in microbiology and is a graduate of the University of Utah's School of Medicine. Mark completed com-pleted an internship at UCLA and is beginning his surgical residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida in June. He served an LDS mission mis-sion to Thailand. The couple will be honeymooning on a Caribbean Cruise. It is important for this young man to get out and see the world, but this is very difficult for him unless he has a ramp. Here are a few important things to remember: Dont trim trees near power lines. Watch for overhead power lines when moving irrigation pipe or operating heavy equipment Assume all downed power lines are energized and stay away from them. Don't climb trees near power lines. Stay away from substations or anything marked "Danger High Voltage." Never install rooftop antennas or satellite dishes near overhead power lines. Draw & Yin with Utah Power's Electric Safety Contest This contest was developed to help educate you and your children about some of tie dangers associated with outdoor activities. For kids to enter, all they have to do is draw a picture with an electric safety message and send it to Utah Power. They can create their own or pick one of the topics at left All contestants will receive a prize and 25 winners will receive a $100 savings bond. CONTEST RULES Artwork must be the original hand drawn creation of the contestant and all contestants must be from 5 to 12 years of age. Limit one entry per person. Winners will be notified by July 15, 1997. Drawings should be horizontal on 8-12" x 11" size paper. The back of the artwork must have the contestant's full name, age, address and phone number.
