J V' ' , REUNION Reunion to deliver enthusiasm, romance to SCERA Shell Concert The words of a golden oldie song proclaim that "Youth, like love, is wasted on the young." Just don't tell that to the founders of The Lettermen. Jim Pike and Bob Engemann have been joyously performing tender songs of love for more than 30 years. Now part of the group Reunion, Pike, Engemann, and Rick de Azevado deliver a generous dose of nostalgia each year to thousands of fans who gather to hear such standards as "When I Fall in Love", "The Theme from a Summer Place", "The Way You Look Tonight", and "Put Your Head on My Shoulder". Reunion has joined the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre season and will harmonize their tribute to "lovers in love" everywhere May 19, 1997 at 9 p.m. at 699 South State (in SCERA Park), Orem. 1997 Shell season tickets are still available at $29.75 for adults (13 events) and $15.75 for children (age 3-11). Season tickets tick-ets and individuals tickets for the Reunion concert at $10 may be purchased through the SCERA Center weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 225-2569 or 225-ARTS or at the Shell gate. To date the singers have sold more than $100 million worth of records, tapes, and CDs. They reigned supreme in the '60s, even against the likes of The Beatles and Rolling Stones. They were voted the top college concert attraction of the 1960s and Billboard Magazine hailed The Lettermen as "The Greatest Romantic Vocal Group of All Time." The singers reunited and added de Azevado several years ago because their fans wrote that they missed the original blend, harmony, and distinct sound that characterized their hits. "We were eager to sing for our fans and find new ones," Engemann En-gemann says. "We were anxious to sing for our fans of the college days who are now leaders in their professions and their communities." com-munities."
