May7, 1997 Rage 13 DDifG 5 mim i J J The Chauntenettes Chorus will present their annual Spring Pops Concert, 'As Long As I Have Music', at Canyon View Junior High School, 960 North 700 East, Orem, on Monday, May 12 at 7:30 p.m. Director Maurine Madsen, assisted by Ranelle O'Dell, with Irene Jenkins as accompanist, have planned a wonderful mix of melodies, which include well known numbers as: What A Wonderful World, Fun Son-gathon, Son-gathon, Soft Rain, with soloist Shelly Adams, and Climb Every Mountain, with Lanon Jensen, soloist, as well as Flying Free and Across The Wide Missouri, accompanied by flutist, Collette Silent movie plays at Tabernacle tonight National Music Week will take you back to those thrilling days of yesteryear when men were men and movies were silent. On May 7, 1997, the Provo Arts Council invited everyone to come experience romance and. adventure on the screen with Douglas Fairbanks as the hero, and Mike Ohman on the organ, the Tabernacle will host the showing of the silent movie "The Mark of Zorro" at 7 p.m. There is no charge and the community is encouraged to attend at-tend and boo and hiss the villain, cheer the hero and sigh deeply during the love scenes. New numbers this season, which are certain to become be-come longtime favorites, are: River In Judea, Alto's Lament, and the theme song 'As Long As I Have Music', with a solo by Kari Ostler. Valerie Phelon and Kari Ostler will perform a duet, The Power Of One'. The narration narra-tion is Nedra Sorenson. The Chauntenettes have been invited to sing at several concerts, both sacred and pops, in Illinois and Nebraska, in June. Following the Mormon Trail, they will present concerts along the way from Omaha to Lincoln to Carthage and Liberty Jail. The chorus will perform at Mike. To assist with expenses of the upcoming trip, chorus members will hold a bake sale prepost concert, and a raffle on two lovely love-ly handmade quilts, as well as cassette tapes for sale, of both the Pops and Sacred Concerts. Because the Chauntenettes are a service organization, we encourage en-courage everyone to ring Campbell Soup labels, which will assist in obtaining valuable equipment for the Dan Peterson School for Special Needs ' Children. Labels may be turned in at the door, or to any chorus member. The concert is free to the public.
