The anniversary an-niversary will also be celebrated at an open house to be held December 1 in Afton, WY. Budd and Erma are the parents of nine; Jeanette (Wayne) Denney, Salt Lake City; Jeanice (Monty) Harrison, Ft. Collins, Colorado; Fred (Sylvia), (Syl-via), Brian (Corlie Ann), Orson (Donna), all of Star Valley, Wyoming; Jeraldine (Sherrell) Shorter and Ballard (Leah Mary), of Orem; Debbie (Mike) Woodard of Santa Clara; and , Pat of Laverkin. Local volunteers provide dinners for families in need A local LDS stake volun-- volun-- teered to provide 80 Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing dinners for local families in need, according to Jeff Grubbs, advocacy aide for the Utah County Division of Human Ser-vices Ser-vices office in Provo. The service project was sponsored by the Division of Child and Family Services, Western Region. The meals included a three-. three-. lb. ham, five lbs. of potatoes, four , cans of vegetables, rolls; Jell-O, : vfruifc cocktail,- marshmallows," -pudding, applesauce, apple juice, brownie mix, and an assortment as-sortment of candy. Meals were prepared by the individual wards in the stake. The youth got involved in decorating the packages in which the meals were contained. Meals were delivered to the Utah County Building in Provo on November 26. They were to be picked up by DCFS caseworkers and delivered to the appropriate families. Oldroyd in Temple Kimberly Daniels, daughter of Robert and Gloria Daniels of Bountiful, will marry James Ballard Oldroyd, son of Mark and Virginia Oldroyd of Provo, in ceremonies to be performed today, November 27, 1996, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A reception honoring the couple will be held tonight from 7-9 p.m. at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. The newlyweds will also be feted at an open house on Saturday, November 30, from 7-9 p.m. in the Women's Council Building, 400 West 500 North, Provo. , The bride graduated summa cum laude from Brigham Young University's school of nursing. She is employed at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. She served as a missionary in the Dominican Republic Santiago Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The groom has attended Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, and is cur-rently cur-rently a student at BYU. He served in the California Fresno Mission (Laotian-speaking). Bridesmaids will be Emily and Robilyn Daniels, sisters of thebride. Brothers of the groom Tom, Taylor, and Jared will attend him. The couple will make their home in Provo. . - f , -ft . uTttfl mil : 4 X I U U i i 1 k 4 1 ), and Belva Meredith to celebra te golden anniversary JAMES BALLARD OLDROYD AND KIMBERLY DANIELS Alfred (Jack) and Belva (Bell) Miller Meredith will be celebrating their golden wedding wed-ding anniversary. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on December 13, 1946. The couple's children are holding an open house at the Orem Park 4th Ward Chapel, 755 West Center in Orem on Saturday, November 30, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and invite all their friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to attend (no gifts, please). , Jack graduated from Beaver High School, Utah Valley Trade Technical College, Central Utah Valley Aviation School and attended at-tended the University of Utah and Brigham Young University. He served in the Navy during World War II in the Aleutian Islands and the South Pacific and was involved in the invasion of Iwo Jima. He worked for 15 ; years at Geneva Steel and retired from BYU after working . there for 28 years. Belva was born in St. Anthony, An-thony, Idaho, and attended" grade school there. Her family moved to American Fork in 1941, where she graduated from -American Fork High School. She also attended BYU. The Merediths are the , parents of six married children: Sherrie Atkinson of Lindon, Lu- Gene Johnson of Provo, RaNae Webb of Taylorsville, Jackie , Messersmith of Nephi, Lee Meredith of Bluffdale, and Stephan Meredith of Pleasant View. They have 28 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, with more on the way. Jack served in the Scouting program for 20 years, has been a counselor and bishop in four different bishoprics, served on the high council, taught Sunday School and Primary, was high priest group leader, and is presently serving as executive secretary. Belva's life has centered on genealogy. She served as advisor ad-visor to two stakes in the Spanish extraction program, at the same time, for 17 years. She also served in the Young Women's organization and in the Primary and worked in the Scouting program. She has been the compassionate compas-sionate service leader in the Relief Society and served as secretary. For 20 years, she had the same companion for visiting teaching and she and Sister West never missed one month in their 20 years of visiting their Babies born to local parents Orem Community Hospital Hospi-tal November 14 Boy to Richard and Celeste Kennard, Orem Girl to Eric and Mary Hamb-ly, Hamb-ly, Orem November 15 Girl to Brenda Guzman and Farrell Miner, Orem November 17 Girl to Brandy Edwards and Chris Sevine, Orem sisters. . Jack and Belva served an LDS mission in 1989-90 to Puerto Puer-to Rico. Jack was called to the bishopric and Belva was called to the Relief Society presidency. They served in the city of Cayey for 13 months, and went through the experience of surviving Hurricane Hur-ricane Hugo. They served a second mission mis-sion in Guatemala City in the LDS temple from 1994-95. This made the fifth temple they have served in; the others were the Salt Lake City Temple, Manti Temple, Provo Temple, and Mt. Timpanogos Temple. The Merediths attribute their long, happy life to a love of each other, family, and love of the Lord, and a willingness to serve Him. They would love to see friends and relatives.
