Show Orem-Geneva Times Wednesday. May 24, 1995 Page 4 Obituaries 1 1: Howard F. Hicks Howard F. Hicks 90 of Orcm died May 22, 1995 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, Provo, Utah. Ho was born April 17, 1905 in Scbr-ing, Scbr-ing, Ohio to William J. andWinchctta Hannum Hicks. He married Hazel M. Woodburn May 29, 1926. The marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. They lived in Rochester, New York until moving to Pleasant Grove in 1960. Mrs. Hicks died November 2, 1986. He married Jeanne MacDonald December 23, 1988. They lived in Roswcll, New Mexico for one year prior to returning to Orom where they have lived since. Survivors include 2 sons and a daughter: Robert Hicks (Dorothy), Denver, Colorado; William Hicks (Sandra), Oneida, New York; Marilyn Yerkos (Neil), Pleasant Grove; a step daughter, Joanne Wood (Brent), Orcm; 15 grandchildren; 9 greatgrandchildren. Howard worked for Eastman Kodak in Rochester, N.Y. Ho was active ac-tive in the LDS Church and worked full time for a year on a new chapel following his retirement. He traveled extensively in earlier years. Last month he celebrated his 90th birthday with the entire family joining join-ing together. All that know Howard enjoyed the sense of humor that he maintained until the very end. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Geneva Heights 2nd Ward, 590 North 200 West, Orcm, Utah. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 500 South at 300 East, Pleasant Grove or Thursday at the Church one hour prior to services. 1 Burial will be in the Pleasant . Monday Ramon Osorio Ramon Osorio, 73, of Asuncion, Paraguay, died Friday, May 19, 1995, at a Provo hospital of complications from a stroke. He was born September Septem-ber 8, 1921, in Itagua, Paraguay, a son of Lorenzo and Sotera Figueredo Osorio. He married Marta Petona Ramirez October 29, 1945. Their marriage was solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple in 1978, one year after his baptism in the LDS Church. He is survived by his wife, Marta, of Orem; five daughters: Beatriz Campbell, Ohio; Lucia Goforth, Bountiful; Mercedes Osorio, Orem; Miriam Clark, Texas; and Marta Dorncr, Lindon; two sons: Gcrardo Osorio and Jon Osorio; 22 grandchildren; grand-children; and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services, under the direction direc-tion of Walker Sanderson Funeral Home of Orem, will be held Friday, May 26, at 10:00 a.m. in the Hillcrost Fifth Ward Chapel, 440 East 800 South, Orem. Friends may call Friday at the church from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery. Paul Eugene Rawlings Paul Eugene Rawlings, 77, of Orem, died May 17, 1995, as the result of an accident which occurred at his home. He was born October 8, 19 17, at the home of his parents, John Thomas Rawlings and Gertrude Amelia Pcay. He was married to his sweetheart, Bessie Smith, on September Sep-tember 7, 1937, in Heber City, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He attended the Union Grade School in Vineyard and graduated from Lincoln High School. He helped with the construction of GenevaSteel during World War II. He spent many years as an ironworker and doing body and fender work. For the past 32 years he owned and operated Rawlings Auto. ""He1s survived by his wife, Bessie. Other Orem survivors include Eugene Paul (Kathryn) Rawlings, Anita Rawlings, Gilbert Lloyd (Vinona) Rawlings, and Jeanette Bellows Bel-lows (Russell). Interment, Provo City Cemetery. Jeanene Watkins Scott Beloved wife and mother, Jeanene Watkins Scott, 65, peacefully passed away May 15, 1995, in Salt Lake City, Utah, surrounded by her immediate family. Jeanene was born June 30, 1929, in Orem, Utah, to Andrea Rich and Arthur V. Watkins. She moved to Washington, D.C., at age 18, after her father was elected to the U.S. Senate. Her father was at one time the editor of The Voice of Sharon, the newspaper that eventually became the Orem-Geneva Times. Jeanene married Elder Richard G. Scott July 16, 1953, in the LDS Manti Temple. She actively participated in church and civic affairs throughout her life, including serving as president presi-dent of the Senate Daughters in Washington D.C., and president of the American School Board in Cordoba, Cor-doba, Argentina. She majored in dance and sociology at George Washington University, graduatingin 195 1. She served a mission mis-sion to the Northwestern States, and held many leadership positions in the LDS Church. Her life was devoted to compiling extensive family history for temple work, while reaching out to many individuals in need. She blessed the lives of all she knew with her warmth, enthusiasm, and unfailing unfail-ing positive outlook. Jeanene made significant worldwide contributions as a loving companion in her husband's fulillment of callings as mission president, Seventy, and as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve. She is survived by her husband; by five children: Mary Lee Scott, Orem; Kenneth L. Scott, Mesa, Arizona; Linda (Monte) Mickle, Houston, Texas; David M. Scott, Salt Lake City; and Michael W. Scott, Provo; by six grandchildren; and by a brother and sisters: Arthur (Ruth) Watkins, Orem; Nedra Reese; Vcnna Swal-berg; Swal-berg; and Nina Palmer. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard, and a daughter, Andrea. Funeral services were held May 19, 1995, in Salt Lake City. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Kathleen Sheldon Kathleen Sheldon, 35, passed away May 18, 1995. Kathleen was a loving and courageous wife and mother who endured all she faced. Born in Inglewood, California, she resided in the Costa Mesa, California, Califor-nia, area until her marriage. She was married in the Los Angeles Temple in May of 1986 to Ed Sheldon. They have one son, Reid Thomas Sheldon. Kathleen is survived by her husband hus-band and son; by her mother and father, Margaret and Bob Stone; and by four brothers and sisters. Interment Inter-ment was in the Orem City Cemetery. JoanGayla Wilkinson Taylor Joan Gayla Wilkinson Taylor, age 40, of Spanish Fork, died May 16, ' 1995, at her home of a heart attack. . She was born September 10, 1954, in Ogden, Utah, to Albert W. and Bessie Jenson Wilkinson. She received her education in the Orem City schools, and graduated from Orem High School. She was a member of the LDS Church, growing up in the Orem 21st Ward. She worked for Head Start, and was very good with children. Joan is survived by a son, Christopher; Chris-topher; her mother; one brother and one sister. Interment, Timpanogos Memorial Gardens in Orem. Izetta F. Robertson Izetta F. Robertson, 91, died May 18, 1995, at her home in Orem. She was born November 23, 1903, a daughter of Charles Henry and Norma Yorgey Funk in Provo, Utah. She married Glenn I. Robertson April 17, 1933, in Worland, Wyoming. Izetta and her husband owned and operated Orem Pharmacy. She served as president of the Orem Women's Club, and was a member of Beta Sorosis, Orem Friends, Utah Pharmacy Auxiliary, and Orem Lady Lions. She was a Library of Congress certified braillest for 21 years. Survivors include a daughter, a brother, and three grandchildren. Graveside services were held in the Orem City Cemetery. Stanley Barnett Stanley Barnett, age 80, of Orcm, died May 16, 1995, at UVRMC after an extended illness. He was born June 8, 19 14, in Ronda Valley, Wales. His family later moved to Alberta, Canada. Stanley spent many years in Diamond City, Alberta, where he worked in the coal mines and was an accomplished baseball player. There, he met and married Thetis Bates. In 1956, he and his wife and their two sons relocated to Provo, Utah, where he was employed by BYU as a staff member until 1978, when he retired. He is survived by his wife, Thetis, of Orem; two sons; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 'Graveside services were held at the Orem City Cemetery. Rufus Reid Cox Rufus Reid Cox, age 86, died May 19, 1995, at the home of his daughter in Mapleton. He was the brother of Edwin Charles (Ted) Cox of Orem. . Donna S. Sheen Donna LaRae S perry Sheen, 65, of Salem, passed away on May 20, 1995, at the Mountain View Hospital in Payson. She was the mother of Patricia (Wilson) Hortin and Collette (Steve) Astle, both of Orem. Alta Boren Long Alta Boren Long died May 19, 1995, at her daughter's home in Orem of a stroke. She was the mother of Joyce (Greg) Sauter of Orem. Ethel G. Fischer Ethel Goodman Fischer, 70, of Pollock Pol-lock Pines, California, died May 18, 1995, in Placcrville, California. She was the sister of Mary Gwen Howe of Orem. Women's The Women's Council of Provo held their installation luncheon Wednesday, May 10, in the ballroom of the Women's Cultural and Civic Center. The luncheon was prepared and served by the honorable Past Presidents Section. Installation ceremony was conducted by Kae Ballard, chairman of the Board of Trustees. Beneath a lattice bowery adorned with pink, burgundy, bur-gundy, and white roses, officers were instructed in their duties, and were presented with gardening garden-ing gloves, baskets, and seed packets each representing continued con-tinued council growth and productivity. Evelyn Doherty 1 Evelyn Doherty, age 70, died May 14, 1995, of cancer at her home, surrounded sur-rounded by family and friends who loved her. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on Easter Sunday, April 12, 1925. She moved from North Massape-qua Massape-qua Long Island to Pennsylvania in 1972, where she worked as a secretary at the Naval Supply Depot at Mechanicsburg for 18 years. She retired in 1989 and relocated to Orem, where she remained self-sufficient until her death. She was a member of The Church . of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a strong supporter of the . , John Birch Society. , . She was the mother of Evelyn Jor-' Jor-' dan, Stephen Barsh,' and Warren" Barsh. She is also survived by a brother, and seven grandchildren. Anna Smoot Taylor Anna Smoot Taylor, age 86, died May 15, 1995, in an Orem care center following a stroke. Orem survivors include a son, Dick S. Taylor, and a 1 sister, Fern S. Taylor. Amy Lavern Dixon Larson Amy Lavern Dixon Larson, 79, died May 16, 1995, in Salt Lake City. She was the sister of Donald M. (Sanky) Dixon of Orem.
