Missing form photo, Superintendent Dr. Steven Baugh Region PTA Board off and going for another successful year On Thursday, September 24, all of the PTA presidents in Alpine Al-pine School District met together to kick off another successful year. "There are 42 very excited and super PTA presidents going into each school this year to give service to the one thing they care about most: your child. I know each one will give their whole heart to their school this year. I can see it in their faces that they believe that PTA is worth it," said Laura Gillespie. PTA adds many important programs for each school. Some of them include: Red Ribbon week, Reflections, Fire and Earthquake Safety, DARE program, pro-gram, Reading Awareness programs, Citizen Day activities. Parent Seminars, Meet the Candidates Can-didates Nights, School Newsletters, Newslet-ters, just to name a few. The mission of PTA is threefold: to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental agencies agen-cies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children; to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; to encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation. If you would like to get in- 'Meet Candidates' on Thursday "Meet Your Candidates", is the theme for the opening meeting meet-ing of the Women's Legislative Council of Utah County, October 1, at 9:30 a.m. in the Women's Council Building, 310 W. 500 N. Provo, Utah. Candidates for office in Utah County will be given time to speak. Light refreshments will be served, and an opportunity for informal in-formal visiting with the candidates can-didates on issues of concern to you. This is an open meeting. Everyone is welcome. SIA has new meeting place Survivors of Incest Anonymous (SIA), a twelve-step program where victims become survivors, has a new meeting place. This group is part of an international network of autonomous support group meetings meet-ings that can be used with or without other forms of therapy by adult supervisors of childhood sexual abuse. There are no dues or fees. The local SIA group was first formed in April of 1991 at the Orem Community Hospital. In January of 1992 when remodeling remodel-ing was scheduled at the Orem Hospital, the group moved to the American Fork Hospital. Now for a more central meeting meet-ing place for all of Utah Valley, they are moving againto the 3rd floor classroom in the tower portion por-tion of Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Meetings are every Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. There is also an SIA group meeting on Thursday evening eve-ning at the Charter Canyon Hospital at &:30 p.m. Using the 12 steps and acting as a support for each other helps members feel more serenity, unconditional love, trust, faith, joy, and self-worth self-worth in their lives. Church will hold their annual Bazaar, Rummage, and Bake Sale, Thursday, through Saturday, Satur-day, October 1, 2, and 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the church, located lo-cated at 925 East 1400 South, Orem. Bazaar items include dolls, aprons, dish towels and sundry other items. The bake goods will be cakes, pies, cookies, breads, apples and other good things to eat. The rummage will include many miscellaneous items, from clothing for the whole family to household goods. Also an exercise bike. The public is invited and very welcome.
