Page 7 Orem-Geneva Times Wednesday, September 30, 1992 ' jilt lillllll iiillilllii Kirsten Powell to wed Greg South on Friday Kirsten Powell, daughter of Lvnn and Jeanette Powell, of Nephi will marry Greg South, son of Jill South and Don South, both of Orem on Friday, October 2, 1992 An open house will honor the couple that evening at the home of Ted Lott, 1097 North State, Orem. There will also be a reception on Saturday, October 3, at the Sr. Citizen Auditions Saturday Center, 146 N. Main, Nephi. The bride-elect is a graduate from Juab High School and is attending Utah Valley Community College. Bridesmaid will be Lisa Fowels. Her fiance attended Mountain View High School. He is employed by Tucker Law Care and Gary's Service Station. KIRSTEN POWELL AND GREG SOUTH Utah Valley Quilt Guild to meet at Eldred Center The Utah Valley Quilt Guild October 21st meeting will be held at 2 p.m. in the Eldred Center auditorium. Everyone is invited to attend Penny Stephenson's presentation "Good Things Come in Small Packages". She will teach and demonstrate her easy method for making miniature quilts and wall hangings. "Puss in the Corner" patterns will be given out free to all present. A beautiful collection of original small quilts will be shown by Liz Laney. Members and friends are encouraged en-couraged to bring their miniature quilts for display also. 1993 membership cards, may be purchased at this and the November meeting. "Christmas Pie", a wallhang-ing wallhang-ing design, will be in the 9:30 a.m. workshop subject. Marsha Har-ward Har-ward will be the instructor for the class. It's the story of John Dale, a wealthy bachelor who enters a Rent-all business and wants to rent a Christmas. He wants it complete with decorations, decora-tions, presents, and 'oh yes' kids and a wife. Anne Weston, the attractive owner of the Rent-all business, is stumped as to how she can fill his order when all the actors are not available over Christmas Eve. But she does manage to pull it all off in a way that will put a lamp in your throat and happiness in your heart. Needed are four women 25-60, two girls 13 & 16, three men 30-60, 30-60, and three boys 8, 10, and 17. Production will run Nov. 20 -Dec. 21. Teen arrested in car theft A 17-year-old woman from Colorado was arrested in Orem last Wednesday on charges of pos-sessing pos-sessing a stolen vehicle and providing false information to a police officer. According to police spokesman spokes-man Gerald Nielsen, Colorado authorities informed Orem police department that the suspect may be in the area. '0$0?m'" j'Wty Leah Meldrum to celebrate 80th birthday Leah Pyne Rowley Meldrum will be celebrating her 80th birthday on October 4, 1992. Her children are honoring her for the years of service at a devoted mother, grandmother, and church worker. She is being hosted at an open house on Sunday, Sun-day, October 4, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at her home at 699 East 600 North in Orem. Mrs. Meldrum has four children: Carl M. Rowley (Maxi-ne), (Maxi-ne), Orem; Mrs. Ray W. (Meah) Nelson, Orem; Gene M. Rowley, Bountiful; and Neil W. (Londie) Rowley, Bountiful. She also has three step-children: Larry Joe Meldrum, Provo; Carol Jean Jensen, Jen-sen, Orem; and Cathy Von Borstel (Herb) Idaho Falls, Idaho. She has 31 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. She is a talented poet and avid gardener. Her yard has won many community com-munity awards, she and her second husband, Marvin, served an LDS Mission to the Harris-burg, Harris-burg, Pennsylvania Mission. Leah's first husband, Carl G. Rowley, died in 1971 and her second husband, Marvin E. Meldrum, died in 1990.
