Notice of SCERA Annual Meeting LEGAL NOTICE Notice of the annual meeting of Sharon's Cultural Educational Recreational Association Associa-tion (SCERA) is hereby given. Sr. Volunteers needed in HEAT Program The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAT) needs senior volunteers. The HEAT program is designed to assist low-income families pay their utility bills during the cold winter months. The HEAT program is administered ad-ministered by the Community Action Ac-tion Agency. Volunteers will work as Energy Ener-gy Fitness Instructors assisting and providing weatherization information in-formation to seniors in the Senior Citizen Centers and low-income families, said Ginny Lakey HEAT energy specialist. "The Energy Fitness classes are being run as a pilot program to help low -income families learn how to conserve energy and thus save money." "We are excited to offer this enhancement to the HEAT program. pro-gram. This will help us better serve the over 6000 families that we assist," said Lakey. Volunteers will help monitor, run video machine, answer questions ques-tions about the program, and make sure that participants are attending the classes. These classes are required for all recipients. Volunteers will also help fill out weatherization applications ap-plications and pass out verification verifica-tion forms for those attending the classes. In addition, volunteers are needed to assist in classes both during the day and in the evening. Classes are one to two hours long. "Training sessions will start as soon as we get volunteers," said Lakey. "We will need volunteers volun-teers in Utah, Summit, and Wasatch counties." Other community com-munity volunteer opportunities include: Volunteers are needed to make daily reassurance calls to elderly homebound individuals. Volunteers are asked to commit to one, one-hour shift each week between the hours of 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Calls are made from the Red Cross office. Brighten the holidays for a resident of a group or rest home by making Halloween decorations decora-tions or centerpieces. Kids on the Move, a preschool for children who are developmen-tally developmen-tally delayed, needs dedicated volunteers to help on a regular basis, two to three hours each week during school hours.
