The Bruins defeated the Vikings and take on Orem this Friday at Mountain View. Mt. View defeats P.G., ready for Orem battle Friday By Dustin Blake Pead ; After consulting the stars for an outcome to Mountain View's somewhat roller-coaster year, I heard Samuel Coleridge scream loudly in my ear, dribbling spittle upon it. Yes, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner!. .It meant something. Either that or it was a mere case of overexposure to the polluted air of the world. Yes, the story of an old man and his crew who find themselves in a dense deep fog where no living thing exists. And just as the crew, the Bruins were in desperate need of someone pulling pull-ing them away from the fog they've encountered this year. "At length did come an Albatross, Al-batross, Through the fog it came, As if it had been a Christian Soul, We hailed it in God's name." Yes, they need some sort of Albatross. And lo, out of the fog a figure came. It being Eric Gentry to pull them from despair and pull he did. In fact, he scored the first two points of the game, but Mountain View still could not get things working. The Pleasant Grove Vikings proved to pull out one of their most productive quarters of the year, scoring the next 10 points to make it 10-2. Eric Gentry led the Bruins in a full court press that proved to pay dividends. Jeff Eakins hit a jumper before Eric Gentry hit yet another to pull them within four. Yes! the fog was lifting. That cursed fog! The patented Ryan Lewis base-line jumper came to life as he hit the next two baskets for the Bruins cutting the Viking lead to three at the end of the first quarter at 12-15. The hill was still there. There was still a battle raging on the verging sea. But the fog still remained. That cursed fog! Ah, but another emerged. Another to aid them. Jeremy Sink arose with power and fury hitting consecutive three-pointers to put the once overpowering Vikings in their rightful chair with the score 30-24. 30-24. The Mountain View point guards controlled the ball the best they have all season as they dodged swiftly in and out from defenders. And as time ran out in the first half a pair of Sam St. Clair free throws increased the lead to eight at 32-24. Now it was the Vikings who needed an Albatross to pull them from the fog. Indeed I have never seen such a man they used. Big, object against the unstoppable unstop-pable force. Who knew what would happen? Ryan Lewis continued con-tinued his consistent play as two quick baskets resulted in a 46-32 score. The immoveable object was losing... pretty badly. But then it happened. "And I had done a hellish thing, For all averred, I had killed the bird that made the breeze to blow." Yes, Eric Gentry was lost, "killed" by an ankle injury at the beginning of the final period. Hopefully the breeze would be strong enough to pull them through. Something new arose from the fog. The attack of the "Ryan's" began to take log. No Viking could stop them in their cold stare, no giant could grab them and I don't want to make this rhyme. Bryan Kitchen emerged as well, and along with Jeremey Sink and the two Ryans, they continued most graciously along. Within the final few minutes the "Sink" avenged Eric Gentry scoring eight straight points as the final score lay at 76-46. A solid Viking thrashing. "Oh! Dream of joy! id this indeed, in-deed, The lighthouse top I see?" Yes, Mountain View..you've - found it. Lee Miller makes honor list Lee T. View's Ryan Lewis, 31, played a consistent game against the Vikings to keep the Bruins in the region title contention. Mt. View Lady Bruins defeat P.G. Vikings By Dustin Blake Pead Get out those history books kiddies. Indulge yourself in Norse legends. The Mountain View women did and therefore have succeeded in demolishing all who have stood in their path. Yes, that's right. It was studying. The "S" word. Heaven forbid that word. A little help from Odin and Thor doesn't hurt either. Entering the Mountain View "Aasgard" Arena this past week... the Pleasant Grove Vikings. (Also rich in tradition.) Rituals of the common-place Viking would be that of robbing someone of something, some-thing, or in this case robbing the undefeated record away from the Bruins. They're weren't very nice and lady-like about it either. But no matter. The Vikings encountered en-countered more than just some lowly peasants carrying woven cloth to another land..They encountered en-countered Valhalla. Balance was the key for the Bruins as Jennifer Schlappi scored first, followed by an Angie Roberts basket making the score four to one. Sabina Mueller carried car-ried on the tradition with a "half-hook, "half-hook, half-jumpshot" before Julie Wilde went on the warpath scoring scor-ing four straight points to make the score 10-1. Only the Gods could match the endurance of the Bruins. Both teams ran up and down the court like rabid jackrabbits foaming at the mouth, but Mountain View seemed to feel no fatigue. The Vikings managed somehow some-how to call for help from the three fates, but unfortunately that's Greek Mythology and Zeus didn't look very pleased about that one. To make matters worse, Kim Henry began to rock the scoreboard, and the Viking hope of victory, scoring her first four points to end the first quarter at 18-10. Mountain View's inside attack at-tack destroyed the Viking defense just as abuse of chemical narcotics nar-cotics destroyed the dinosaurs. Kim Henry received assist after assist from Julie Wilde, Angie Roberts and Jennifer Schlappi as they scored occasional baskets of their own. At 24-14 the game seemed in control. 75 of the Bruins shot selection remained within five feet of the basket. A free throw here and a turnover there and '-Mountain View led by 11 at half, '29-18. The Vikings looked like they were finally going to have to pay for their plundering. It was too late for repentance, too late for salvation. Kim Henry was like that parasite in your stomach you just can't seem to get rid of. She went on the warpath right where she got off, scoring the first five points of the second half making it 34-18. Sabina Mueller and Jennifer Schlappi danced exotic dances around the defenders, mocking their inability in-ability while scoring baskets of their own to rally the score to 42-18. Oh boy. This is really getting get-ting ugly. The once curled, combed com-bed hair of the players turned into ratty nests of abomination to look like Johnny when he wakes up after his chewing gum has been dislodged from his mouth. The Vikings did not score until 3:23 left in the quarter before they scored five points in less than 20 seconds. (When it rains it pours I guess.) Pleasant Grove scored frequently enough after that to remain acknow-ledgeable, acknow-ledgeable, but not near enough to stay in the game. A beautiful outside out-side jumper from the left side by Jennifer Schlappi increased the lead to 20 at 51-31 with 5:06 left in the game, and from there on the Vikings began to hope that Danny Davis attempting to hold Jason Jensen of P.G. Jensen reversed Davis and pinned him in the 2nd period. Pleasant Grove rolls over Mt. View By Lloyd Evans Mountain View traveled to Pleasant Grove with a very injured in-jured wrestling team. Mountain View has four starters out due to injuries and not a lot of experienced ex-perienced depth to fill in. Pleasant Grove pinned 8 of the 13 wrestlers, decisioned two 6-0 and got 1 forfeit. Mt View was only able to win 2 matches via the Sawaya brothers. Bill decisioned Eric Schrader 12-0 and Ben pinned Cory Gover in the 3rd period to give Jennifer Schlappi goes up for a jump shot against Pleasant Grove. The starters left the game to a large, boisterous yelp from the Bruins fans and deservedly so. The final scored appeared minutes later at 64-40, thanks to an incredible game from Kim Henry scoring a season high for the Bruins at 22. Jennifer Schlappi Schlap-pi followed with 12, and Sabina Mueller tossed in 8. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum. Mt. View its 10 points.
