By Jeanne Thayne The Motto of the City of Orem is: We give the people their money's worth...and then some. If you don't believe it here's a few facts. The total tax and fee impact on the Average Home in Orem (assumes $80,000 taxed at 60 percent per-cent of market level) is $54.46 per month. Ogden, Provo, Sandy, American Fork, Lehi, Lindon, Pleasant Grove, Spanish Fork are all higher. Cities with less tax impact include Springville at $52.89, Payson at $51.91, West Valley City at $50.17. Ogden is highest with $79.75. Although Orem's population - has soared from 30,000 in 1972 to nearly 70,000 in 1988, the number num-ber of city employees per 1000 population has continually dropped due to efficiency maneuvers to get more bang for the buck in Orem. In 1975 City of Orem had 6.82 employees per 1000 citizens. A high point of 7.16 employees per 1000 was reached in 1978. In 1988 City of Orem has 4.88 ' employees per 1000 population. In monthly utility bills, citizens realize good service at less cost. The average cost to residents resi-dents is $26.39, based on average residential use of 22,000 gallons per month for water and 9,000 gallons per month for sewer with a 34 inch meter. A record of other cities over $50,000 shows: Ogden - $34,05, Provo - $31.19, Sandy -$30.86 (has sewer services provided by five different districts rather than by city), West Valley City - $28.74 (water and sewer services provided by Special Improvement Im-provement Districts).
