We recall with appreciation not only the sacrifices of the founding found-ing fathers and mothers of ' this nation but also our pioneer ancestors, who, under oppression, found and settled this beautiful beauti-ful valley, and with hard labor, sacrifice, and much cooperation cleared and cultivated the land, developing the water and building the foundations of this community so that we might also continue to build and enjoy the riches and bounties of their wise planning, courage, and hard labor. We recall, also with thanks and appreciation, the many devoted leaders and servants, both relig-ous relig-ous and civic, some who are present here today, who have, during the history his-tory of this community, served unselfishly and given much, receiving little lit-tle or no monetary reward, re-ward, all for our good and for the growth and development devel-opment of this city.
