Show iildred Dimick Plans Retirement Mildred H. Dimick will retire re-tire at the close of the current school year. She was hired in J95'J by t!ie : Alpine School District to teach the homenound and hospitalized stu lents in the Orem area. Most of the students have been on the high school level. It has been .challenging and interesting work, and the teacher ins i 1 .reused her knowledge right along wifh the students. It has Iwon gtat opportunity. She also taught cooking and sewing at theState Training School and shorthand at Hen-ager's Hen-ager's Business College. Eight years were spent at U.S. Steel in the Accounting Department, f Mildred was born in C-tc'ie Valley, Utah and lived there until un-til she was four. Then she moved to St. Anthony, Idaho with her parents and lived there until she graduated from hijh school. .: The following two. year;? were spent at the University of Idaho, MILDRED H. DIMICK 5.B., where she graduated with a commercial certificate qualifying qual-ifying her to teach business in high schools. She then moved to Provo, to attend B.Y.U. and Mon. thru Sat. - 2 to 6 p.m. onlerfrom AMERICAN OPINION BOOKSTORE 640 E. on 1700 So., Orem 225-9784 graduated with a B.S. degree, having majored in both home-making home-making and english. She supported suppor-ted herself thoughotit her advanced ad-vanced education by working as a secretary during fne school years and typiiu, tiiosis and books during the summers. While teaching she has earned m. n.,' Jiours in graduate education. MilJiV'l is the wife of Cecil I. Dimick and '.lie mo'Iier of Deanna Dimick, a teacher at Orem, and Joseph I. Dimick, an attorney in Orem. She has been ictive in the L.D.S, Church and held many ward and stake positions. She is a pasi state president of the Homeboind and Hospital Teachers Teach-ers and helped to write the state policies and procedures for that group. She has been a member of Gamma Phi Omicron and Alpha Al-pha Delta Kappa sororities. Mildred hopes that she will continue to have good health and be of service to her family and community. She is lookin&for-ward lookin&for-ward to ample time for reading, writing, travel, and enjoying her home and hobbies. She would like to serve a mission for her church. She wishes to thank the staff at the District, her principals, and fellow workers for their friendship and many kindnesses. Rackele Chosen As Representative ORE M JR. PLANTS TREES Arbor Day was observed at Orem Jr. High School Friday, April 25, when a group of students stu-dents met at the city's disposal area and planted several hundred hun-dred trees with the help of the city Shade Tree Commission. At the Southeastern District Utah Federation Business ami Professional Woaieu's spring conference hdd in Vernal on Saturday April 2Gth Rud.- ie D. Rackely was chosen to represent the district in state competition. Miss Rackele was sponsored hv tlh1 Orem Club and hud been presented to the club at their February meeting. Hudc-iie is the daughter of Mr. and vlrs. Rudolph R. Rackele of Provo. She was selected in part through her 5 -minute presentation pre-sentation on the "Combined Energy of All Working Women", this year's theme for BPW. As part of her speech, Rudene pointed poin-ted out that women today are getting get-ting away from their stereotyped image by branching out "and broadening their horizons by filling fil-ling positions once monopolized by men. Women are beiiy accepted, ac-cepted, respected and are receiving re-ceiving credit for their real worth in the business and professional world. Rudeiie is employed by the Central Cen-tral Baik and Trust Company as a Secretary in the Public Relations Re-lations Depart rik-nt and represents repre-sents her firm as an associate member of (lie Utah County Chapter Chap-ter o) Executives" Secretaries, Inc. JENKINS WINS POETRY CONTEST Kathryn B. Jenkins, Orem, w.ts one of a number of Utah County residents who took honors in the Utah State Poetry Society contest. con-test. She announced a winner test. She Was announced a winner at the annual convention and awards luncheon at the Ramada Inn in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Jenkins won the James C.
