And as far as I was conceriied it really WAS glorious. I had Family with me. My brother and .lis wife came down from the Pear Tree at MiJway, his son and wife came down from Salt Lnke Valley with their two children. Maybe you don't thin'i that was something new and different. After the parade which is always worth the looking . . . and I must mention theoUM. BAWi), and a live elephant, yet, after the parade, then we all hied to a certain Chinese Kestaurant as is ourcustomand stuffed ourselves. And let me tell you that we .ire NOT above leaving the place well supplied witli doggie bags, Dearie. 1 have a certain dress that was made for me on another Fourth of July years ago. As a nutter of sentiment, which is what Fourths of July are made of, 1 war it even when I'm all by my lone. So there I was, all decked out in white dotted swiss, fresh washed, starched and ironed. The styles being what they are these days, I wouldn't have been spared a glance if I'd been wrapped in a blanket. In fact anyone wrapped in a blanket would be well dressed these diys. Folks were running around in what looked like old fashioned bathing bath-ing suits. In fact there wre those wlu wore ... well, never mind. W here did the little elephant come from: That was certainly certain-ly something; new. The Scots Bagpipers were here.. How 1 love them.' My brother said he couldn't make any sort of music out of bagpipes and 1 was shocked. I was also sorry for him. I hate to have him miss the skin-tingle and heart throbs that bag pipe skirrling produces in me. Years and years ago for a summer session at LowerCam-pus LowerCam-pus BYU, there wis a Scots couple teaching Srotch Literature. Liter-ature. I took a class from her, and of course 1 can't remember her name. She presented pre-sented for study apoem entitled "The Flowers O' the Forest Are All Wede Awa' ". It's a dirge for lost warriors. Teacher said it had been set to music -was folk music in fact. I had her sing it to me until I could play it by ear. I remember it still. How I wish I could hear THAT played on bagpipes. And today, July fifth, it's cloudy. Hurrah! And the wind is aggitating my locust trees so 1 better put a net over my hair. 1 don't mind wind. In fact I like it-in moderation, of course. Have letters to write and general holliday catching up to do. Also have the nunth end banking and errands to do. There are new commemorative stamps out. I must lay in a supply of them. (I give commemorative com-memorative stamps for all birthday and anniversary events. Something practical that everyone can use.) Oh, one thing I wish to remark on. The Last Resort is close to the parade route and people park solid around this corner. This year there was almost no litter for me to pick up. Just one thing, a very large bag of beer cans. Being all bagged made it easier for me. I don't know what sort of reputation I'll have with the trash men when they find all those beer cans, but one can't worry about EVERYTHING, can one'.' Anyhow with the sort of things that go out of my cellar and into the trash, a fat clutch of beer cans wouldn't cause a ripple. Selah. CSS tjsSM 1 589-$2560 ms for org hi t'lese febs.
