Construction Of Deer Pass On M5 Is Planned The State Road Commission of Utah opened bids today for the grading and drainim; construction con-struction phase for two lanes of Interstate Highway 15 inBea-ver inBea-ver and Iron Counties. The project extends from Fremoat Wash to South Beaver 8.3 miles. Three structures will also be included in the project. One of these is a Deer Overpass which will lie used exclusively by deer and other wildlife migrating through the area every season. This deer overpass is a first for Utah and possibly the ni-tion. ni-tion. Numerous nighttime accidents acci-dents have occurred in the past, when quick moving deer have leapt into tin- path of vehicles. This new overpass, plus a deer underpass also being constructed construc-ted on the project, should eliminate all but the most determined deer from traveling travel-ing across the roadway. The other structure is a double box culvert being installed to provide pro-vide surface drainage. Two other structures will be built under later comracts. Industrial Const met ion Company Com-pany of Delco, Idaho, was the apparent low bidder on the project proj-ect at $2,004,607, compared to the official engineer's estimate of $2,115,331. According to Robert A. Rowley, Row-ley, P.E., Highway Department Resident Engineer on the project, proj-ect, work under this contract is expected to be completed in 225 working days. The pieject is being constructed con-structed in such a way that traffic will be able to use most of the existing road during construction. con-struction. After this project is paved, traffic will use the new Lines while the final lanes are constructed. ij'd'.i ' C C" "tl , ,. t , , S - iiiiKvlt n "'";.' f J. exclusive service for Utah ...i L ,nnr , i , TIU SPACIOUSNESS OK the Scera Park-gioiinds Park-gioiinds is evidenced in the picture above.
