Show Palmer Brothers Freight Co. Builds Headquarters In Orem Announcement was made Saturday Sat-urday at a press luncheon in Orem that Palmer Brothers Freight Co. will move Its main terminal and headquarters to Orem, and will build a new terminal ter-minal building on 800 North near the present State Road Department Depart-ment 6 headquarters. Hardy Roberts, co-owner of the motor transport company, made the announcement to members of the press, city officials, Chamber of Commerce representatives from Orem and Provo and representatives rep-resentatives of the Utah County Commission and UVIDA. At present, there are termiaals in Salt Lake City, Provo, Richfield, Nephl, Fillmore, Delta, Pan-guitch, Pan-guitch, and Kanab. The firm operates intrastate, with interstate inter-state freight from Salt Lake City south, basically on highways 1-15 and U.S. 89 and 91. The new Orem terminal will have 35 doors, as compared with 11 at present in Provo, uA 12 at Salt Lake City. By January 1, Mr. Roberts said he expects to have 35 employees at the Orem terminal, increasing the aumber to around 50 by July, 1971. RAPID GROWTH Mr. Roberts said the company has been growing at the rate of 50 percent in Utah County, and projecting this percentage, could have 202 employees locally in 10 years. "Trucking grows faster than the population," he declared. New terminal headquarters and general office will cost about $140,000, exclusive of the land, In moving to Orem, Mr. Roberts said his company expect to participate par-ticipate in the future grewtb f Utah County by being closer to its best customers, and to reduce costs of operation by less handling hand-ling of freight from Salt Ulte City to Utah County, thus hebpiag to hold down freight rates. The company also hopes to render a better overall service to Utah County customers, particularly particu-larly to assist in their traffic needs and to render advice and counsel on rates, tariffs, etc., Mrs. Roberts explained. He said the Orem office will be more cetrally located in the operating territory. y v.
