It was a gallant effort on the part of Coach Lani Haacke's Tigers as they made the go-ahead run in the third inning only to have the score knotted again in the fourth by Carbon which lasted to the final splurge. Carbon, the surprize winner of the Southern Division which came on strong in the late stages to edge out favored Springville for the division championship, won the first game of the two-out-of-three series to determine the Region Four representative in the state playoffs.
