BPW Install New Officers Newly elected Orem Business and Professional Womenofficers were installed in impressive candlelight can-dlelight ceremonies recently in Orem. Dorothy Campbell, past president of the Orem BPW and State BPW By-Law "Chairman, installed the officers. Mrs. Campbell resides in Spanish Fork. May Morgan was installed president for a second term, Jessie Hawk is 1st vice president presi-dent and Dona Sumner, 2nd vice president. Ruth Johnson is treasurer, trea-surer, Erma Jeanne Argyle, recording re-cording secretary, Bessie Meiling, Meil-ing, corresponding secretary, and Helen Wentz, nominating chairman. MM I U -.4 Charter Night For Nike Club The Nike Club of the Orem High School, sponsored by Orem BPW Club, held its Charter night on April 9, 1970. PamWengreen, president, greeted the members, their parents, and guests. Mrs. Coltar, the school advisor, introduced in-troduced the officers, and a history his-tory of the club was read by Alene Winterton, historian. Mrs. Lurleen Hansen, vice president of Orem PBW, and club sponsor, presented the Charter, which is number 133 from the National Organization. Miss Ann Kidd, National Membership Mem-bership Chairman, spoke to the girls and their parents on the goals of BPW, and the involvement involve-ment which they can have in this service organization. There were 18 girls present and seven parents. Guests were Miss Ann Kidd, National Membership Mem-bership chairman; Josephine Jergensen, state president; Mabel O'Brien, state 1st vice president, Helen Dalley, state 2nd vice president; Ruth Allen, state corresponding secretary, and Dona Sumner, state magazine maga-zine editor, with members from the sponsoring club: May Morgan, Mor-gan, president, Lurleen Hansen, 1st vice president; Helen Wentz, Evelyn Terry and Dona Sumner. The Nike Club has made wonderful won-derful progress for this first year. Enthusiastic backers of this new project, the Orem club, prepared and served punch and cookies following the Charter meeting. The couple has set June 26 for their marriage in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Miss McSpadden is a graduate of Brigham Young University and Mission San Jose High School in Fremont, Calif. She was studentbody treasurer atSan Jose High and while at BYU was affiliated af-filiated with Dileas Chalean. She is now teaching elementary school in Glendale UnifiedSchool District at Glendale. Mr. Murdock is a graduate of Orem High School and BYU. He also completed a mission for the LDS Church in Taiwan. Orem Grabs Region Four Golf Title BY BRAD WILLIAMS With an impressive 8-0 record for the season, the Orem High golf team won the Region Four championship but qualified only one player for the State Class A tournament which begins inSalt Lake City on Monday. Senior Kent Bylund will represent rep-resent the Golden T igers as the best graduating senior golfer, the option used by the Coach Udell Westover to get a player in the state tourney. In the state qualifying round of play last weekend at Price, the Orem players came in fifth place out of the nine teams entered. A fourth place win was needed to allow the entire team to go to state. Coming in first in the 18-hole match was Springville with a score of 330, followed by Spanish Fork with 332, Carbon 337, Provo 338, and Orem with 340. These scores were the com--bined stroke totals for four team members for the 18 holes. Playing Play-ing for Orem were Kent Bylund, Dick Clark, Tom Worthington, and Kim Greenland. Medalist at the state tourney will win a $250 scholarship. Field Day Set Windsor School will hold their field day activities Friday, May 15, beginning with a show in the morning for all . the students Dance activities will follow after which lunch will be served in the lunchroom. Parents are invited to eat lunch with their children if they wish. Afternoon activities will consist con-sist of competitive sports for older grades and games on the lawn for younger ones.
