He served 11 months as a mechanic mechan-ic with the 77th infantry iivision on Okinawa and the Philippines. Kenneth Brereton, son of Jane A. Brereton of edgemont is home again alter serving in the European, theater for 18 months. Ja& Jones of the Merchant Marines left Thursday to re--him to his base In California. He has spent the past thirty ifev here with his partns, Mr. and Mrs. D. Henry Jones. Phillin Conder. USN. has arrived at Seattle, Washington and is waning anxiously lor his release, so he can join his wife, the former Fae Alvin Hancock, of the U. S. Marines, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hancock of Sharon is home; on 30-day leave, but will report back at Santa Barbara, California, February 6th, for further assignment. PLEASANT VIEW Last Sunday evening the Sharon Stake Court of Honor was held in Pleasant View ward The Senior Scouts of Pleasant Pleas-ant View ward, known as "Explorer "Ex-plorer Post 2036" Dan'l Boone received their official charter for their organization. This charter is the first one to be presented in the Sharon district; dis-trict; also every Explorer Scout received their apprentice badge for which they had qualified. Mrs. Tana Richards was elected elect-ed president with Mrs. Maxine Davis as secretary-treasurer. A report of the past year's activities activi-ties was given by Mrs. Richards, Rich-ards, former secretary. Mrs. Bernice Faulkner was the outgoing out-going president. The club will meet Friday, January 25, at the home of Mrs. Mary Rowley. Mrs. Maxine Davis will be in charge of the program. Members , of the Edgmont camp, Daughters' of the Flo neers made a fine warm quilt to be turned to the European sufferers as their part In the local clothing drive. Two new floodlights have been installed in the rear of the church by Wilford S. Gillespie and Stanley P. Stubbs and lights up the rear parking lot in a fine manner. Members Mem-bers of the bishopric urge all members to take advantage of the fine parking lot, which was given a heavy coat of gravel by Leo Hansen and Jesse Smith a short time ago, will make the highway much safer. No meetings will be held in the ward Sunday owing to quarterly conference at Scera at 10 a. m., 2 p. m. and 7:30 p. m The primary and Sunday School officers met in a planning plan-ning meeting Wednesday evening even-ing at the Relief Society rooms. Business matters were discussed and the lesson given by Miss Laura Meldrum. A social hour followed, with refreshments being be-ing served by Mrs. Ralph Meldrum Mel-drum and daughters, Laura and Helen, Mrs. Florence Unthank and Mrs- Eva Gillespie. WINDSOR Mrs. Ferry Nielson Keporter Mr- and Mrs. Robert Wnght announce the marriage of their daughter, Gloria to Homer D. Self, of the U. S. Army. The ceremony was performed by Bishop LeGrande Jarman at the home of the bride's parents, par-ents, in the presence of the immediate family last Friday, January 11. A wedding reception given by the bride's parents will be held Thursday, January 17, at the First ward chapel In Pleasant Grove. At the regular priesthood meeting held in the Sharon stake Sunday, Jan. 13, Milton Kirk was chosen to act as a counselor to Edgar Booth on the stake Sunday School board. '' The Relief Society presidency presi-dency has set the date of their bazaar for Feb. 1st. and all the ladies of the ward are requested to donate a ready maae apron or other article to help make this day a success. With the dividing of the Timpanogos stake came the dividing of the Windsor ward, and the loss of many staunch ward members, among them, Joe Swenson, who has been act ing as a counsellor to Theron Whiteley in the Sunday School, Mrs. Thelma Swenson, a primary pri-mary teacher. Mrs. Belva Simpson of Moroni Mor-oni arrived Monday to help care for her mother, Mrs. Clara Kirk, Mrs. Kirk is ill and confined con-fined to her home. The G. W. Club held a social so-cial at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Doro-thy Johnson Friday afternoon. Progressive games were played with Vida Lystrup winning the prize for the highest score. A delicious luncheon was served by the hostess to the following club members: Mav Astntv Blanche Nielson, Janet Hum- pnrey, Oreen Walker, Jennie Harris, Emily Long and Vida Lystrup.
