BASDEN Of the Record staff For the past several years. Park City High School has had the privilege of hosting the Utah High School Jazz Festival at the Eccles Center. Although the festival fes-tival has only been held in Park City in recent years, it has been in existence far longer. In fact, it has been so long, nobody really knows the exact date it started. Despite the time factor, the annual event allocs the, top jazz bands from across the state to come together and display their great musical talent. This year. 32 bands will be present for the two-day two-day event that begins April 2. This particular festival is by invitation only. Throughout the year, students compete in regional region-al competitions for superior ratings. rat-ings. Those that achieve this rank are invited to take part in the Utah High School Jazz Festival. Here students compete again - not for first, second or third place, but for another superior rating on the state level. This aspect is important to the school, but for the public, a good music showcase is the real draw. On Friday. April 2, the day begins at 1:30 p.m. with various band performances.
