Show The Park Record A-7 Saturday, September 29. 2001 Utahns to send inspirational banner to New York A banner, measuring 30 feet by 45 feet and - designed by Paul Hardy, a media designer and ' resident of Utah, who was at the World Trade Center and survived the attack on Sept. 11, will i soon be on its way to New York. It will hand at 43rd Street and Third Avenue, along the - Brooklyn Queens Expressway. This location is I viewed by all Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island residents traveling east and west on the BQE to Manhattan via the ''Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges and the i-Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. The banner is meant to inspire New York J Presidents as well as the people of our great f nation and to remind us of those things that - Matter most to us as Americans. ''"''The banner will read "In memory of our -b i families, our friends, our God, our freedom and our peace... We will defend liberty." It will also feature full graphic design. Hardy has graciously donated his time as well as his talents to this project. Map Media of New York has agreed to donate the space to post the banner . Vision International of Salt Lake City will be printing the extra large banner ban-ner with their special digital printing capabilities. capabili-ties. This effort allows Utah residents to show their support for the people of New York City, and in some small way to help alleviate suffering suffer-ing and inspire the people of our nation. The idea for the banner came from Jackie Olson, a stay-at-home mother of three who says she felt inspired to put a positive image and sentiment out there after seeing all the destruction and heartbreak that has happened in New York and Washington, D.C. "The people peo-ple of our great nation need to support one another... At times like these we draw strength from our families, friends, faith and our national nation-al ideals. We must defend these same things." For this project to be completed, funds to pay for costs not donated must be raised. These costs include some materials and printing, print-ing, shipping, and installation. For those who would like to be part of this project and help make the creation of this banner ban-ner a reality, a donation fund has been set up at Key Bank under the name "Defend Liberty."
