Show Saturday, June 6, 1998 Spring athletes receive letters, honors Awards banquet ends the 199798 PC sports season by Dave Fields OF THE RECORD STAFF For many Park City High School senior athletes, Thursday's spring sports banquet was the last opportunity to take the stage and be recognized for their dedication to school sports. Tennis, track and field, soccer, softball and baseball athletes and coaches were thanked for their tireless work over the last few months in the spring sports season. sea-son. Each head coach, along with assistants in some cases, gave each athlete certificates of participation participa-tion and then awarded varsity letters let-ters and pins. After each sport had a chance to talk of the season past, emcee Mike Adamle named all of the individual awards for each sport. Soccer Soccer Coach Mike Guetschow took a moment to thank Sherie Walters for her help in creating the first PCHS freshmensophomore freshmensopho-more soccer team to accommodate accommo-date most of the 65 players who tried out for soccer this spring. "This season was one of getting used to a new coach," said Guetschow, who led his team to the state finals in his first season as head coach. The PCHS softball team was one of the only teams to score a run on 5-A Skyline and the team's average GPA is 3.6. Alexander raised the minimum GPA for her players and established estab-lished three priorities: school, family and softball. "I was very proud of how they handled themselves on the field," Alexander said of her team. Alexander presented her seniors sen-iors with packets containing mementos that she hoped would help the players remember a great season. Senior Courtenay Mastain summed up the softball season.
