Show Pat Montgomery brings new ideas to Park City Library T?rk City News Thursday, May 19, 1983 Page A7 A new chapter in the Park City Library's history began Monday when Pat Montgomery Mont-gomery took over as the new library director. Montgomery Mont-gomery said she was still trying to get her feet on the ground, but added that she already has some ideas that she is anxious to introduce. The first order of business, she said, is to expand the existing book collection. "I'd like to emphasize new book releases and to get them as soon as possible," she said. "I'm looking into the possibility possi-bility of leasing them from the publishing companies with an option for buying the ones we want to keep. ' ' Montgomery, who has been the head reference and information librarian for Salt Lake County for the past five years, is also anxious to develop Park City's resource collection of reference editions. edi-tions. She mentioned the possibility of acquiring a home repair encyclopedia and more health and science reference books, but added that she will wait until she has a better feeling about what the community is most interested in. "I think we need to be able to offer statistics in all fields," she said. The library computer, which will be used to tap into the state library system, has not been working and Montgomery Mont-gomery is anxious to get it in line. "I think it is just a small technical problem," she said. "Once it is working we will be able to research fWMr lliti : X I if ll )l I W r';JJ ? i I j ! II x ; .'i QlflP ir - -'--. Vs ; - " : . Eventually Even-tually I'd like to purchase programs for the public's use." She explained that there are programs available avail-able for developing math arid language skills. Pat Montgomery Montgomery is also hoping to get Park City involved in the statewide summer reading read-ing club which helps to keep youngsters reading while they are not in school. She is also thinking of bringing movies to the library in conjunction with the Recrea- pJioTo'byNan Chalat tion Department. Above all, Montgomery says, "I am looking for suggestions." She said that she will welcome comments about everything from the length of the check-out time for books to the hours the library is open. Park City resident and athlete Scott Leinbach, 27, died in a motorcycle accident acci-dent near Price, Utah last Saturday. Leinback was an avid skier and motorcyclist, and a long-lime employee at the Timberhaus. Employer Matt Alvarez recalled, "He was the kind of a fellow who lived his life as an adventure." Leinbach was racing Saturday Sat-urday afternoon in the Sage Riders Never Sweat 100, in the desert area between Price and Green River. According to his roommate, Jim Black, Leinbach was leading in the race when he disappeared from the view of racers and spectators. About 30 or 45 minutes passed before he was missed. Searchers later found Leinbach's body, thrown about 20 feet from his crashed motorcycle. The exact cause of the accident was not determined. Originally from Middlesex, Middle-sex, New Jersey, Leinbach was a Merit Scholar who attended the University of Colorado in Boulder for two years. Later, he resided in Tahoe City and Olympic Valley, both in California. He was ski service manager mana-ger for the Timberhaus, where he had been a season employee since October of " 1980. "He was reliable and a good, knowledgeable ski mechanic," said Alvarez. Matt added that Leinbach had "great expectations" in regard to his future as a skiier and a cyclist. "And he eventually rubbed shoulders with those expectations. He was involved in cycling full bore." During the summer, Leinbach worked for several motorcycle companies. "He had a lot of humor and tenderness. He was more sweet than bitter," said Alvarez. "And he would enliven everyone around him." A get-Logether will be held for very close friends only today at 1 p.m. at Leinbach's residence. u Planning Commission Upcoming HI 01 May 25, 1983 Marsac School 7:00p.m. 7:l5pm. 7:30p.m. I II PUBLIC HEARING: Regarding zone change application for the east side of Park Avenue between Heber and Ninth Street from Historic Residential to Historic Commercial Com-mercial Business.
