School is a frightening and discouraging experience for this little girl. Many children are exposed to excessive discouragement during their childhood. Research shows, the primary pri-mary reason many children misbehave is because of discouragement. The dis-couarged dis-couarged child has little faith in his ability to succeed and loses interest in trying. The best way to defeat discouragement is to honestly honest-ly encourage the child. Educator, Edith Neisser, lists six ways parents and teachers can be encouraging to children. One. Tell the child you have confidence in him by letting him know he can do it. Two. It is encouraging to a child to earn privileges by sticking with a task until it is completed.
