Main Street MM ! Spanish Fork 794-2333 Movin Liz Elder I'm having a little crisis of faith here. I think my son may have died. He went to return the moving van and he's not answering answer-ing his cell phone, which may be because he doesn't want to talk to me or be cause he's been killed. I'm going with the last. I admit, I may be an overprotective mother, but like most overprotective moms, I have large areas where I'm so totally self-absorbed self-absorbed that I forget my kids entirely. Then, when I finally remember them, it's like I have to rush to catch up. My own mother was like this, that's what's so terrible. She was kind of a hypochondriac so most of the time, she was "sick." I don't think I'm sick so much as I think I'm stressed out, which was actually probably her problem prob-lem too. But any additional issues with the kids make me more stressed, which I blame them for, but then I hover like a crazy person, per-son, which makes us all stressed. The larger problem is that I don't know what to do. When your kids move away, they go from that wonderful land where you, the parent, knew everything every-thing they were supposed Out to do. Then, suddenly, they move to a place where you can't even figure out how to take a taxi, and you go from being the Wizard of Oz to being Toto, soooo not in Kansas anymore. It's confusing, disorienting, disorient-ing, discombobulating. Wrong. I want to go back to being be-ing able to manage everything, every-thing, but my knees hurt too much. And my back gets sore when I lift too much and I'm so out of shape that just going up and down a few flights of stairs makes me faint. The leaves are getting get-ting ready to fall of my tree, if they haven't fallen already. I'm getting old and I'm in imminent danger dan-ger of being declared redundant. re-dundant. So, that's the depressing depress-ing side. The good news, of course, is that once they move out and get a job, you get to keep all your money. You get cute grandkids and guilt-laded Christmas presents which will hopefully be better than the ones they gave you in fifth grade. Not as cute maybe, but.... Sad, I'm feeling sad again. I need a hobby. Bones and dead insects visited the fourth grade classes at Art City Elementary. Did you know that if the Indian rice grass disappeared the crickets, flies and many of the birds would too? Rocks around The Great Salt Lake have salt attached to them and it makes crystals. The Great Salt Lake may look empty but it has a habitat with many animals including brine shrimp and brine flies.
