Only 12 athletes from the state in the 4A classification are selected. The award is based on athletic ath-letic ability and academic grades. Great job, Red Devil athletes! ) V I mlki Nathan Richie and Bryce Frisby SHS STAFF WRITERS Springville High School, under the direction of the Utah Health Department and the Highway Patrol, is initiating a program to promote pro-mote seatbelt awareness. Thirty students at SHS died Thursday, Nov. 29, as a result of failing to buckle their seatbelts. In a national study, every 13 minutes someone dies in a fatal car accident and these SHS students acted out this gruesome statistic in the form of painted faces and signs stating that they were dead. - ' :'..';? y ' ' . It's second nature na-ture to them. But what most don't realize is that the good deeds they do out of habit can make a world of difference to the recipient. When Kimberly Dan-sie, Dan-sie, a junior at SHS, got out of the car one morning morn-ing before Thanksgiving break, she and her step-dad step-dad didn't see his wallet mixed up with her things. As she walked away from the car, the wallet fell to the ground unnoticed. About thirty minutes later, Scott Gurney realized real-ized his wallet was missing. miss-ing. It contained credit cards and cash; a significant sig-nificant loss. Mr. Gurney called the SHS office, certain cer-tain his wallet was gone for good. Meanwhile, a student ; walking into the building had noticed the wallet pn j the ground. They picked ; it up and immediately ! turned it into the office, i The office staff tried to ! determine the owner of the wallet, but there was no phone number or contact con-tact information listed. When Mr. Gurney called, he was relieved i i a' ' ' : ' ' burnt Jr t... ., n , , 1 t ' M , to find out that his wallet had been recovered. He was even more amazed when he picked it up and discovered that nothing had been lost. Scott Gurney Gur-ney would like to extend his deep appreciation to the student that returned his wallet that morning. SHS would like to find this student.
